Looking to learn about Budapest gay culture-2 surfers
Hey Queer Budapest,
My name is Jake, I’ll be visiting Budapest in 3 days with my friend Emma (http://www.couchsurfing.org/profile.html?id=10BK9XM5). We’ve been contacting potential hosts for the past couple weeks, but nobody has been free so far. We’ve been putting a lot of effort into our search and requests, to show that though we're new, we're very serious about this. But now I worry that we’re too short on time, so I’m coming to you.
The reason I am reaching out to you is because I am gay and like to meet other LGBTA people, especially internationally. I find that people’s stories are so unique, and I love to listen to people tell stories. I really love coming out, and romance stories. I was raised Mormon (like the US presidential candidate Mitt Romney) and the Mormons are notorious for being anti-gay so I am always asked about my experiences of being gay and Mormon. I like to talk about my experiences of growing up in the Midwest of the US. I have lived in Minnesota all of my life so I only know about the gay culture of Minneapolis but would like to get involved with other gay cultures. Although being gay is an important part of my life it is not my entire life. I like to cook and love to bake desserts and would share that with you if you have an oven. Emma and I both enjoy listening to music and dancing. If you can’t host us we still don’t know what to do with our five days in Budapest so we would like suggestions.
We have a few backup hostels, but as fun as hostels can be, we were really excited about Couch Surfing and we would rather get an insider’s view of Budapest. Plus I think this is an amazing opportunity to share and compare experiences across the globe.
We’re new Couch Surfers who are creative, passionate and considerate, looking for accommodations for one or more days. We arrive at the airport at 10:30am on Sunday Oct 21st and leave at 6:10am on Thursday Oct 25th. We are very flexible about where we stay and would love a chance to stay in the countryside as well, but we are obviously limited by public transport and cost. We would love an involved host, but we’re low-maintenance and can entertain ourselves if you’re very busy.
I know many people will only host if you have previous experience. We only found out about CS on the suggestion of a friend about a month ago. While both of us would be happy to host, in the US we are students living in dorms, and hosting would be against policy, and in Amsterdam we are both guests ourselves with host families. I just wanted to explain that our not hosting was out of respect, not lack of commitment.
Our profiles are both complete, so check us out, see if we sound like a good fit for you. Feel free to ask any questions. Obviously we’ll talk things out before committing to anything.
I hope to hear from you,
