53,000 -- one room in a 3LDK mansion only 8 minutes from Ikebukuro station!

Greetings CS Tokyo family,

I am offering a nice room in a 3LDK mansion style apartment for rent. It is only 8 minutes on foot to Ikebukuro Station, with direct access to the Yamanote line (10 minutes to Shinjuku, 15 minutes to Shibuya, 17 minutes to Ueno). There is also direct access to several Tokyo Metro subway lines. We live within walking distance to everything you could possibly need, with a nice grocery store about 3 minutes away. Although we are near the station, our immediate area is all residential and very quiet.

The room is tatami and about 5.5 jo in size. There is a big closet for futon and linens and another small closet for hanging jackets or other miscellaneous things. There is a huge balcony and the room gets plenty of natural sunlight. The living/dining/kitchen area has a couch, a table, and a massive plasma TV with surround sound and a PS3 that we all share. We often relax after work with a movie or some video games. The toilet is separated from the wash room, and there is a bathtub/shower, a sink, and a washing machine in the washroom. We have a gas stove with two burners, a microwave, a toaster oven, a blender, and all the kitchen supplies you would possibly need. We just bought a huge new refrigerator as well with more than enough space for all three of us.

I'm currently living with two male friends, so the new roommate would preferably be another guy. We are all in our mid/late twenties and have been living in Japan for a long time. One of the guys is American and the other is an Aussie. One can speak conversational Japanese and the other is fully fluent (he went to university here, with all of his classes in Japanese). One is a teacher and the other is a translator. Both plan events on the side, so you will get invites to a lot of social gatherings (if you choose to partake).

The best part of this apartment is probably the fact that we deal directly with the owner (whose daughter can speak English and lives on site). This means no agency fees, no renewal fees, no hidden costs. You pay a deposit (which can be broken into monthly installments if you don't have it up front) that is fully refundable once you move out and that's it. We pay the rent directly to the owner, who lives downstairs, so you never waste money on furikomi.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! I'm free to show the room on Sundays and Mondays, or after 9:15pm on any day. Looking for someone who can move in ASAP!

Hey Jeff,

Just read your post about the room and it sounds amazing. Next july I will be going to Japan for at least a year, working in Yokohama. I'm orientating myself on where to live, city is so big;). Your place sounds great. Since i'm not there yet, and it will take a few months before I will, I can't make any promises but would it be ok if I contact you in about 3 months? By then the room is probably not available anymore but it would be great if you can give me some advice on where to go.

Hi! Is the room available for a short stay? How much per night?
