Cost of living in Bucharest – need help
Posted February 15th, 2013 - 6:47 am by from Bat Yam, Israel (Permalink)

My name is nati and I'm from Israel.

please can somebody help me.

I want to come in June to Bucharest and live at the town for a period of 4 month. I need to do at the town a project.

I will glad to know home much is the approximate cost of living in Bucharest.

I'm talking about a average style of living like a average citizen of the town.

Something like renting a 1 bed room flat not at the center off town. All the Utilities cost like Electricity, Gas, Water, Internet, mobile phone…. Going out with friends 2-3 time a week to a bar or a club and in some weekends going out of town for some hiking.

What do you think is the amount of Lev that it will cost me for a month for this kind of life style?

Then I will double it for my 4 month stay.

Thank in advance

I have no idea how much it would cost, but I have honest advice: while staying in Romania use Romanian Leu (RON) instead of Bulgarian Lev : )

I think you need in Bucharest at least 500 euro/month to be confortable, renting one room flat (garsoniera), paying bills, food, going out for a drink or a meal few times /week, transportation...

Hi Elena

I know this site and I try to calculate with the data on this site how much it will cost me for 1 month.

But at the end I got the amount of 1000$ for 1 month and my friend told me that he think it is too much.

I understand now from the answers here that is more like 700$ and not 1000$

Any way... Thanks for link and the willingness to help 

Nati, think about 500 euro to live normal and good in Bucharest, renting one room, paying bills, and eat, go out for a meal and drinks, and 600-650 euro/month if you want to do some trips around Romania!!!

Between 700 and 1000 euros you would live like a queen in Romania.
You would haven´t worries. Romania is very cheap. The beer cost 1,5 euro, the vegetables with 20 euros you buy for all month. The taxi fare is 1,79 lei (1 euro= 4,5 lei). And Bucuresti is the city most expensive i Romania.
