Cheap way to Budapest and back by bus
Posted November 13th, 2009 - 10:44 pm by from Vienna, Austria (Permalink)
Hi!

I found a very cheap way to get to Budapest from Vienna by OrangeWay (www.Orangeways.hu)

Roundtrip price:
5500 HUF ~20,50EUR

Hint: Don't use the German translation, because only the English and Hungarian version works!

Here are the trips i booked:
To Budapest (OW411)
===================
Departure: Tue 29 Dec 2009 16:00,
Vienna Wien SÜDTIROLER Platz (Bhf. bus station)
Arrival: 29 Dec 2009 18:50 HU Budapest OrangeWays bus station - Stadion FTC Népliget

Back to Vienna (OW400)
======================
Departure: Sun 03 Jan 2010 07:00,
HU Budapest OrangeWays bus station - Stadion FTC Népliget Arrival: 03 Jan 2010 09:50 A Vienna Wien SÜDTIROLER Platz (Bhf. bus station) A6

My seats are 29 & 30

See you there :)

Sounds cool :)
Right now there is nearly every seat available, so that's why everyone should try to book now.

Note: By December, the Südbahnhof won't exist anymore because of reconstruction until 2011 or 2012.

I checked the train schedule from Villach to Vienna at 11:16 - There is a train that arrives at Wien-Meidling at 15:28. If it is not delayed, you can go to Südtiroler Platz by Schnellbahn (it's only two stops).

To make sure, that you really catch that bus, you could try to take a train a bit earlier 9:16 or 9:20, altough you would have to change once.

if you need help, feel free to post your question!

See you,
Dominik

Here are the directions from the Bus Terminal in Budapest to the Wintercamp I got from one of the organizers:

Take Tram 1 until the bridge westbound on the ring, and then take bus 35 south.

I could book the bus without any problems.
I know some issues with the website if you use the German translation...

I used my mastercard and it was fine.

You might use a debit card? I know that those sometimes can cause problems, in cause it doesn't work at all, just write them an email:
buszjegy@orangeways.com

Hope this helps,
Dominik

Hi folks

We are getting more and more ppl, so hurry up to get your ticket for the bus!

Note: we will arrive in Budapest 18:50. We have about one hour time before the CS Dinner at the Main Market Hall starts (that's included in the registration package [please sign up])

If you want to do the Haka Workshop you may take a bus earlier as starts 2 pm - 3.30 pm, but this one might be repeated!

Note that you can also split: For example you could go by train (~20EUR one way) there and back by bus.

Hi

looks like most of the ppl will go with the same bus.
The bus will depature from Sued Tiroler Platz..
For people outside of Vienna PLEASE DO NOT FORGET, the Suedbahnhof wont be in service, so if you go to Vienna bz train from the South you will arrive at Wien Meidling.

That means you have to take a Schnellbahn to Suedtirolerplatz or tram, subway.

Lets all meat at 15.30 at the Hot Dog Stand at the Suedtiroler Platz.

for those who need to call me, write me a message and i will send you my cell number
