Posted December 8th, 2012 - 8:21 am by from Northampton, England (Permalink)
Hi my name is Tony and i am planning a motorcycle trip to Slovakia around july/august time ,we will only have 1 week in slovakia as we are riding through Poland first and want to visit Vien and Prague on the way home
i want to find out if there is a Half marathon or marathon bieng run any where in Slovakia in July or August as 3 of our bikers are also marathon runners and i want to try and arrange this for them as this is the first time they have been to Eastern Europe and they have onlky ran UK marathons
[they are only amateurs]
I have been to your beautiful country 3 times before but only ridden through it so this time i want to ride the Tatras and see some of the wonderful countryside
Also quench my thirst with some of your beer and Slivovitz
if anyone can help i would realy apprecieate it and the dates of our trip will then include the marathon
Best Regards

4.august, half marathon Rohace - Podbiel, slightly downhill, 10.august Rajecky maraton (also half marathon).
I would prefer runs in spring or autumn, summer is generally too hot.
It is strange combination, long-distance running after hours spent on bike. What are saying your knees and legs to that?
Greetings to Mallaig!

Lucky break!

Hi Tony,

I'm not a runner, but I'd be glad if you rode through Slovakia wih your mates. I looked for marathons in SVK and found this website http://beh.zoznam.sk/behy/terminovka/ You can choose a date range for marathons here. I know nothing abt them, but I guess you can look for translation and and ask couchsurfers about specific runs.

And a suggestion for a great place to see on the way : Spis castle.I think it's the nicest castle here.

Have a nice holidays
