Hi Erin and Nastya!

First of all, your idea of camping in Greece is great! I have always been camping since I was a kid and it's my favourite way to travel.

I would like to give you some information and advices though.
As for the periods you're about to visit Greece and especially camp I have to say that:
On May, it's the best period to go camping because it's not crowded at all and you will definitely find places and even try free camping without being busted by the police :). But during this period the sea is still very cold and the weather might not be so sunny too... Plus that almost no Greeks go camping this period so you won't have the chance to meet people or join some beach parties...
On the other hand July is the best period to camp from the aspect of people! Almost every Greek (and of course not only!) go on vacation in Summer so you will meet a lot of people and every night you will be in a different beach party!!! But the beaches this time are overcrowded and incommodious... At least the sea and the weather is just great!

As for the places... It makes sense that you want to travel to Greek islands (especially Santorini!). These islands are the most famous and traditional attractions in Greece in summer. I totally recommend you to visit them because they are beautiful. But I would like to introduce you to an alternative place to camp in Greece, which I find most attractive... It's called Halkidiki! It's in Northern Greece and it's only 1 or 2 hours far from Thessaloniki (the second biggest city in Greece-and first in beauty ;)) by bus. It's something like a heaven on earth to me... There are numerous beaches with so many places with cheap camping areas or even free camping areas. I visit Halkidiki almost every year. You can check some photos at my profile...

I don't want you to consider that I'm making a propaganda or something!!! But it's my favourite place in Greece so I just want to tell you my opinion!!! Have in mind that the travel to the Greek islands lasts many hours, costs a lot and the boats are always delayed!

Furthermore, I would like to inform you about a CS meeting that will take place in Halkidiki: this is the site http://www.couchsurfing.org/meetings.html?mid=61895 and you can check it out...

If you finally visit Greece on July I could most probably join you because I will have finished with my exams! Just let me know! I hope these pieces of information are helpful!

See you soon and if not have a great time camping in Greece!

Hello Erin,
I lastly decided to travel, probably starting around May 3rd for a month, not sure yet. I would start by the North of Europe (the International festival of ghosts and spirits in Bojnice, Slovakia, seems nice and is from May 6th to 9th), after that, no plans. I think I'd like to join you for a while, depending of your itinerary. I was also thinking about the Woof program for a week or two.
My projects are not well established yet, but your plans sound awesome and inspire me. Would you please tell me a bit more about it, starting around May 9th.
I don't speak Italian, but I speak French... could be useful!
