Polish responsible people looking for a job :)
Posted June 25th, 2012 - 1:47 pm by from Wroclaw, Poland (Permalink)
Hello!
We're moving to Vancouver for a year:)
We'll get there next thursday and we want to start working as soon as possible - we have to rent an apartment and pay all the bills immediately.
We are group of four people- two couples :)
Girls can work in kitchen, be waitresses, clean, nurse, or work as a salesperson, dog Walker - anything:)
Guys are looking for work in construction, renovation, in warehouses, but can also be waiters or work in shops, bars etc.

In Poland I worked as a SEO specialist, also in PR and in "art industry" ( promotion of cultural events). A few years earlier, also as a waitress, shop assistant, dog walker and kitchen helper.

I would be grateful for any information.

It's kinda difficult to find a job through forum, of course it's worth to try, but the best you can do is to print bunch of resumes and apply personally + sending dozens of copies everyday by
http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/
and
http://vancouver.kijiji.ca

the easiest job to find straight away is a dishwasher position, but be prepared for hard work though :) it's a good way to start working right away and have some income, but definitely not the best option for a long period of time ;)
to work as a waiter you'll need very good english skills, a big plus would be having previous experience,
but let's be honest because it's a tipping industry and Canadian people always tip at least 10% of the bill, there's also a bit of competition, native speakers will always have an easier start,

here's a very good website with hospitality job offers:
http://www.raisinfeeds.com/jobs/

if you'd need some help during your stay let me know man,
cheers!

Kamil

ohh i thought that Mike is an author of that post, i just noticed that I was wrong ;)

so probably "a dishwasher position" is not the best option for a girl ;)

I didn't say it's pleasant and well paid, but if somebody wants to find a job on working holiday visa right away, and doesn't have too much money for a "holiday" part then dishwashing job is the easier way, you can find such a job within a few days and you have income straight away that gives you time to find what you're looking for.
cheers!

sure, we all eventually got our jobs from craigslist.
It's kinda hard in the beginning though.
