Book Swap 3rd Meeting Fri Jan 29th
Posted January 17th, 2010 - 9:43 pm by from Vancouver, Canada (Permalink)
Ladies and Gentlemen,

It seems like an eternity since our last meeting! Hope you had wonderful holidays, and lots of time to enjoy the readings :) Whether you have finished or not whatever you were reading, come to our 3 rd bookswap meetup back in Rhizome cafe again!

Details:

Date: Friday Jan 29th
Time: 6.30pm
Place: Rhizome Coffee Shop on 317 East Broadway (Broadway at Kingsway)

We've got couple of ppl bringing in wonderful book selections posted in the earlier threads. Feel free to let us know what will you be bringing, and if you have any particular requests from other people.

I will chip in with 2 books that I have taken before, but never had time to read, so I decided to release them again :)

1. "Lawyers Gone Bad" by Philip Slayton
2. "Blindness" by Jose Saramago

Let me know if you can make it!

Cheers,

Lily

You should give Blindness a read first, it's good, like Day of the Triffids minus the Triffids :)

I should be able to make it this time, too.
Just gave away all my new books to friends to read though, but I can bring some of the older classics in case somebody hasn't read them yet:
e.g.
Anne Brontè: The Tenant of Wildfell Hall
Jane Austen Northhanger Abbey
Gustave Flaubert: Madame Bovary

and less classic but nevertheless worth reading:
Ken Follett: 'The Hammer of Eden' and 'Triple'
Phillipa Gregory: The other Bolyn girl

See you Friday!

Susie

Ieii, I'm happy you can make it Susie, I'd love to read Bronte, I've read a few books of her in the past, and they seem to work pretty well :) I'll prolly take one, will try to read it during the brake!

Simon, I'm giving the Blindess temporarily I want to read it eventually, but with school have no time now! Are you gonna make it to the meeting?

I will try to but most likely I'll be working every day during the Olympics. I do have a whole slew of books that got left in the room I recently moved into that aren't my cup of tea. Think I have a few other better ones left over from my trip that I will bring. I'll get a list up a little later on.

Will definitely try to make it. I have a slew of SF and Fantasy to bring by (check out the titles in the last book swap thread).

Thanks Dove for the encouraging words! I'm sorry for not making it on time, and being 1 hour late.
At least I have a contact now, so that should be tackled in the furute!

Thanks for suggesting ppl pointing the best meetup times. This would help me a lot next time I arrange a meet up!

Cheers everybody, we missed you, hope to see you next time!

Sounds like a missed a fun night! Sorry I couldn't be there, I was at St. James Hall watching Dala Girls from Toronto perform beautiful folk music.

Hope to be at the next one. Reading is going slow with me, I'm going to try to pick it up a little.

Currently reading and very much enjoying White Noise by Don Dellilo, the book I got from Keith at the fist meet we did at Rhizome (I like the place a lot too!)

See you around!

Cheers
Andrew
