Looking for Hotel / Hostel for New Years 2012 / 13 week :)

Hi all ;)

For a change i'm not going to surf someones couch and am actually looking for a Hotel / Hostel for New Years 2012 / 13 week :), from 28th to the 5th of January to be more precise. I've been up and down sites like booking.com and other related and i'm starting to think that this might actually be out of my budget...I can't seem to find accomodation on those dates for under 1000 dollars for a double room...that amounts to over 100 dollars per night..out of my price range.

Any local or someone that has travelled there has any ideas or advise of a good price/quality place to stay or of some websites or local travel agencies that offer promotions or special discounts sometimes ?

Any help will be much appreciated ;)))

Cheers all and happy travelling

Yes i figured it would be impossible to find any reasonable price for those dates in New York City...this was a desperate last call for someone who knew of some kind of miracle :).

I've never been to NYC before so I really don't have a sense of what it would mean to stay in Brooklyn or Queens, are these areas safe and what does it mean in terms of travelling time? To daily go to Manhattan and come back late at night would mean how much time or taxi fare? ;)

Cheers

Hi pedro

I'm facing the same problem , you might want to switch to hotel which is a bit far from midtown /times square , i booked the lexington hotel on new years eve .

If you are looking for something affordable, try Hostelling International on the Upper West Side. I attended a meeting there last week and it's a big hostel, great staff. They showed me one of the rooms and it's quite spacious and clean.
