Conecting an E-Piano to the computer
Posted January 9th, 2011 - 3:13 pm by from Vienna, Austria (Permalink)
Hi guys,

I am looking for somebody who has experience with connecting an E-Piano / Keyboard to the computer.

I did it years ago via the MIDI interface, however times seem to have changed and now everything is running via USB.
Who has experience with that? Maybe we can meet and talk and u can give me some suggestions.

Hej Felix,

it should still work with a MIDI device.
There are MDID to USB cables available that do the job.
You can find them on Thomann or just at your next music store.

All the best ;)

Hi Erique,

thank you for your answer - I figuerd the cable out.
The thing is, I am looking for a new piano and new ones don't always come up with midi. Yamaha uses expressions like "USB to host" and "USB to device" but I am not shure if that works like the old MIDI connection did. Unfortunately even the guys from the piano shops have no clue on that - that's why I am looking for people with experience in here ;)

Hmm, i don't know about that but I had a Yamaha P-85 some months ago which isn't that old either and it has MIDI connections, I used it with a MIDI to USB cable with my computer.
