Traveling to NYC Dec 29 - Seeks to Meet New People & Take Photos
Posted December 27th, 2011 - 10:51 pm by from Toronto, Canada (Permalink)

I'm traveling to NYC from Toronto this Thursday Dec 29 to Monday Jan 2 and looking to meet interesting people to trek around Manhattan and take photos.

If you have the time and want to explore a neighbourhood or two, I'd like the company. In return, I'm happy to treat you to lunch and good conversation.

Please feel free to get in touch with me here on CouchSurfing or Facebook www.facebook.com/lisa.bradburn

All the best and chat with you soon,

Hey Lisa..

I'm not free during the day since I work, but at night time I am. I'm a photographer & digital designer... and love taking photos. If you want to go shoot at night let me know.
You can see some more of my recent photo event work on my Facebook as well.

Hi Hideki,

Thank you for replying back to me so quickly! I'd love to tour around and take some night photos, what a good idea. I think either Thursday (tomorrow) or Friday evening work best, let me know what fits your schedule. Obviously I'm happy to treat you to dinner instead of a lunch in gratitude. Maybe you can make a fun, yet charming recommendation. (I like to eat well!)

I'm staying on the upper West side (270 West 77th Street) so let me know what time and where you'd like to meet and I'll come by to see you.

I must warn you, I'm not a professional photographer so I suspect you'll probably be able to teach me a few tricks. This is going to be a great experience, I'm looking forward to meeting you.

Hi Lisa,

That sounds good. When do you get in?
Thursday or Friday, either one I'm OK as well...
I can do both as well.. depending on how ambitious you are
and if you can stand my company. Anyways, either or works for me.

Just a few questions:
- What were you looking to shoot or see?? [ie: buildings, holidays lights, scenery, people]. etc.. I'm open to shoot anything.
- Is this your first time here or have you seen the sights already? I want to try and cater to you as much as possible since I've shot in many different locations.

I currently also work in the Wall street area [not as a banker unfortunately.. just a graphic designer trying to get by.] lol ;) I can meet you anywhere in the city, but it will depend all on what you want to shoot & see.

By the way...I'm not a pro yet as well.
Just practicing so I can eventually getting there.
Still have lots to learn as well, but I'm pretty comfortable with my camera for the time being.
I actually may learn from you as well...always looking to learn more.

Well, hope to see you soon!
Oh, here is my number just in case you need to reach me: 1.646.234.8034

Hi Hideki

How about we start tomorrow then. This will be my 3rd time to the city and I'm only starting to get familiar. Hopefully when these next four days are over I'll be a lot better acquainted.

Here's what I'm thinking, tell me if I'm short a few marbles:

-I've got 2 tickets to stand up comedy at 236 W 78th St for 7:30 if you can meet me there
-After checking out the immediate area to see if there's anything worth photographing, let's jump in a cab. I'm up to going anywhere that's worth while and will rely on your judgement
-Will love to stop in at the New York Palace roof top (if possible)

My plane gets in around 10AM, then I'll settle into the apartment, go grocery shopping and find my bearings.

Sounds like we'll learn from each other then in terms of shooting things.

Looking forward to our adventure! See you soon

Hi Lisa,

Comedy.. sure thing!
I hope I'm not imposing... I can always meet you afterwards as well. Whichever works for you.

In terms of that area.. I don't recall too many places to shoot around there since a pretty residential area.

Since you've been here a couple of times I'm not sure what would impress you.
Definitely, the view from the New York Palace roof top is great. I actually have not been there myself, but have seen many great shots from there. I suppose we can start from there and work our way downtown.
Although this time of season we will definitely hit the holiday shopping crowd, but it's all part of the big city.

You're not imposing at all. OK! Let's zip down to the Palace after and maybe we can also check out the bar, it looks pretty stellar.

See you very soon~!

Sounds good. I will see you at the stand up comedy at 7:30pm. By the way...I'm 5,5 short Asian guy so I don't think you'll miss me. See you then.
