Gear up for a thrilling group ride (or skate) up to Belvedere Castle in the middle of Central Park for the best New Year's Eve dance party in town with great music and fireworks! (Washington Square Park, under the arch, 10:30 pm, FREE)

PERFORMANCE: New Year's Eve with the Coney Island Sideshow
Celebrate New Year's Eve with the Coney Island Circus Sideshow, Scott Baker, Serpentina, Kryssy Kocktail, Adam "The First Real Man" Rinn, The Executioner and Dick Zigun! Musical guest Bad Buka at 10pm. (RADEGAST HALL & BIERGARTEN, 113 North 3rd Street @ Berry Street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, 10pm, FREE)

PARTY: Sweet Sweet New Year's
To warm you up, Pete's will be serving signature Hot Spiced Rum Cider, and of course the Champagne will be flowing (and the secret Champagniac). Two great bands will drive the action in the music room. First, Dead River Company starts things off at 9PM with their wild, hollering ragtime jug band sound and The Parking Lots take over at 11 with Brooklyn's best garage rock. Think bastard lovechild of Dexter Romweber and Bob Pollard. Loud and Proud. FREE CHOCOLATE from Sweetriot to the first 75 people. (Pete's Cany Store, 709 Lorimer Street, 8pm, FREE)

MUSIC: Matuto / Forro-Down dance party
Luiz Gonzaga meets Bill Monroe. Brazilian accordion wizard Rob Curto, and Bluegrass guitar picker Clay Ross combine repertoires for a full on Carnaval in the Appalachian Mountains. (Barbes, 376 9th St. (corner of 6th Ave.) Park Slope, 10pm - late, $10 sugg.)

PARTY: The Rated X/Panty Party Red & Black Masquerade Ball 2009-2010
Live performances by Tyburn Saints (9:30pm), Kayvon (10:15pm), Natasha Kovolov (11pm), Hypernova (12am) and a cabaret burlesque show at 2am featuring Dirty Martini, T-Boy, Julie Atlas Muz and Mat "Sealboy" Fraser. DJs Rok One, Gavin, Twig the Wonderkid and Theo and Michael T play the downtown club classics and more half-naked chicks dance on the bar. The infamous Hot Body Contest is on at 3am, and, as always, the lovely Peppermint Gummybear is the MC. $100 if you bare it all and do it creatively. Door-whore Thomas Onorato will enforce the dress code: masks are a must. Thematic suggestions: red & black lingerie, pinstripe gangster with red carnation, tuxedos, red gowns, black prom dresses, etc. 2-for-1 PBR all night if you check your pants at the door. VARIETY: Magic Brian and Corn Mo's New Year's Eve Bash
Jason Trachtenburg of the Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players and Albert Cadabra the great deceiver will perform, in addition to Corn Mo making his BBQ Ribs, a Champagne toast at midnight, and DJs to keep you dancin' 'till dawn! **VARIETY: Murray Hill's New Year's Eve Extravaganza
Drag king Murray Hill hosts this annual spectacle, which includes a burlesque performance by Dirty Martini, lewd singing from Bridget Everett and Kenny Mellman, the fabulous Julie Atlas Muz, and as always, plenty of crass jokes. At midnight, glasses of champagne will descend from the ceiling (watch for spillage!) and Murray will assume the role of Baby New Year. Stick around for an after-party with the cast, when you can bust out your running man to hits spun by DJ Mel Huckabee.
