NEW EVENT 31st December
Posted December 20th, 2009 - 3:25 am by from Barcelona, Spain (Permalink)
Hi people!!

I created an event for new year's eve, join the event if you want to spend the last and the first hours of the year with the CS community.

http://www.couchsurfing.org/meetings.html?mid=56958

The thing is we have nothing in mind yet so we still looking for any suggestion.

Anybody is up to host a party/dinner on 31st?
Depending the number of members may we need to split the people in two or more groups.
For that is very important to know how many csers will be.

Any idea?
Any house there???

Posted December 20th, 2009 - 8:33 am by from Grenoble, France (Permalink)
Gabriel,
i've found plenty of places to shake our bodies the house will be too small..
http://w20.bcn.cat:1100/GuiaMap//default_en.aspx#x=32109&y=82016&z=2&c=C011C010C013C014C015C017K001C009&w=971&h=715

I'll be in Barcelona only at 31st with 5 other Russians, 2 Poles, 2 Kazakhs and 1 Buriat. They all are nice people, mostly girls. Firstly we were going to make some festivities on a beach - active games, drinks, testing a water he-he, presenting NY gifts...
But it can be a house also.
Then close to midnight - just a hole in my mind - i don't know what to do - we can walk around in the night and check for some hot places to dance, talk, have a fun..
Well I joined your event :)

Hi Gabriel,

I really want to participate of this meeting but I need to know where it will be because I will be with more 5 friends (all girls, 4 brazilian and 1 american) and we need to organize ourselves.

Hello!!

@mariana: if you know you are coming for sure please join the meeting, the place will appear who know when (I hope:P)

And about after parties-> as FerFidalgo said: there are many options for this night, some of the locals will post what we find on the way. Personaly I'm not going out because I'm not totaly recovered of my leg, so I will finish the party at home sure :P

@Alex-> bringing 7 non-cs members, mmmm, that's very hard to manage even if you are nice people (or girls, :P)nobody have profile in your crew, only you?? because the supposed owners of the parties (and CSers in general) love to have some privacy and, at least, to know who is coming (or recognize some faces)
I hope you understand this point of view, anyway, for a beach party or after party it have to be no problems.. thanks for the link!!

We will count in ONLY who join the event! And we will send the meeting details from there, so join it!
And for CSers with no couch for this night-> It gonna be a hard night to host someone, keep in mind that everybody is having a moving days here...

Posted December 24th, 2009 - 11:15 am by from Barcelona, Spain (Permalink)
hey,

i will be happy to join too. there´s no way to host anything atm.. the place i live is just a bit bigger than me :) merry cristmas!

Me and my friend (not CS) are in France right now and we're doing a two days trip to Barcelona over new years. The plans are just to go there and watch what happens, but we're up for something more organized!

I'm definitely in for anything ;o)

Posted December 28th, 2009 - 9:16 pm by from Barcelona, Spain (Permalink)
Hi all!
There's no CS party, at least at the moment. Maybe something happens in last minute, keep checking this group and the Barcelona forum. ;)
An option for those who want to have a street festival could be at Agbar tower

well, cool..
anyway i preffer to be outside :P the problem is it will be amazing and crazy everywhere... monjuic, p.guell, placa catalunya, agbar tower, etc.. so the choice will not be easy ;) enjoy!

Posted December 29th, 2009 - 7:38 pm by from Santa Coloma de Gramenet, Spain (Permalink)
there are nice concerts in Sala Monasterio... anyone interested on a metal NYE? have some other ideas in mind!

let me know

Posted December 29th, 2009 - 10:18 pm by from Monterrey, Mexico (Permalink)
Ok as well as many of u Im with out plans.. So lets do party... the options are beach, or a common place like Pl Ctalunya etc...(I preffer that more than clubs)

I suggest outside the MNAC to see the fountain's show, (I really dont know if fountain is going to be ON at that time) But i like the place..

But im also tempted by the idea of been at the beach playing games, and maybe playing some music, I have a Djembe, does anybody have any other instrument ?

Lets see what happens

Posted December 29th, 2009 - 10:30 pm by from Grenoble, France (Permalink)
sorry man as though i have huge backpack it's all full of skiing stuff and i can't take an instrument into plane. but i like your idea :)
to sum up i think we can have play games and music on a beach, probably make a fire if it's not forbidden, than close to midnight move to Agbar tower or the fontain show. and finally check some clubs or bars.
how is it sounds?

Posted December 29th, 2009 - 10:37 pm by from Umea, Sweden (Permalink)
I play the trumpet and my friend is a pianist but we can't really bring our instruments this time!
But I say we just try to gather somewhere and either do a beach thing or sit down together in the bars? Seems like the only option right? And that could turn out to be fun anyway!
And checking out bars/clubs might be preferable since the weather might be rainy?

I don't know Barcelona at all so someone that does maybe could suggest some places to meet up? If you're all up for this kind of night that is!

Edi

Hy!

@Sara&Sandra: I'll call to Sala Monasterio. It sounds like an interesting plan to me but I don't know whether it'll be a plan for everyone in this Forum (specially for foreigners who would like to enjoy something more typical, I daresay).

@Gabriel: No plans yet? Sure you can come up with something in the last minute ;). Many thanks anyway for beginning this thread.

Follow this post tomorrow from 4pm onwards.

Hey gabriel,people!
I arranged a house,i wasnt sure about if i would have it until the last moment, but now is for sure.its in gracia and its big enough to fit 30 people i think... im writing with a mobile phone now and its quite hard so i wil post here the exact adress later (when ill have it hehe) and the rest of details and stuff.youre all invited, take your bottles of beer and vodka and whateve with you!. If theres any dj bring the cd/ipod whatever and we'll plug it up.after we can go dancing or to pl catalonia stay there,we'll see how the night goes.the only thing i ask is please send me an email to gabriel.barra@gmail.com confirm your name and your guest so thay i have an idea of how many ppl will come. (dont take too much people or we wont fit :( ) also dont forguet the "cotillon" and grapes!!it would be kind if you could also contribute with a couple of euros for the snaks and plastic glasses and spare-beers,but only if you feel like doinf it,its not mandatory.
Ill create a fb group later... check out later! Looking forwatd to see you all guys!

So see u there.

Posted December 30th, 2009 - 4:10 am by from Barcelona, Spain (Permalink)
hey people!!
Things are going on fine, although the big hurry of arranging everything in the last minute, hehe!!

The house is at Carrer Santjoanistes number 10-12 (corner with carrer saragossa) 3rd floor 2nd door. Metro L3-Fontana or L7-Pl.Molina. Also buses 22, 17 and 16.

The people below sent an e-mail confirming, if any changes happen like someone can't come or wants to bring more friends or anything, please let me know!!

-Krankuba
-Alexey + 2 friends, Igor and Irina.
-Sandra
-Maria + 2 friends, Michael and Diana
-Elena + 2 friends, Dashima & Dmitry
-Alvaro Garza + 1
-Oriol + 3
-Marc + 1

there'll be some bottles of the typical booze, vodka, run, whisky, and stuff, but also the tasty-delicious Cava!! (the catalan champagne :p ) to celebrate the NY. I'll also try to get the grapes for everyone to eat with the "campanadas".
There will also be some snacks. Remember to bring your own "cotillon"!!
you can expect some little surprise :p

finally, Elena suggested to do a "gift raffling", it's like everybody would bring just 1 little present and we would raffle then! that's always nice :) what do you think?

After the party and if we still feel like moving, we can go dancing. nearby there's otto zutz, sutton (very snobbish), ninfas (a bit small) or we can go straight to pl.catalonia or somewhere else.. any ideas?

remember to bring your own drinks, preferably something typical from your country!! this way we can have international drinks and it would be really nice! but if it's too hard to find, well, vodka will be fine!

Cheers! see you soon
Gabriel.

Are you guys planning to eat the grapes there or to go out (plaça catalunya or wherever) afterwards?
I´m expecting some friend´s plans so I don´tknow what I´ll be doing yet, but I´m asking you to know if the 40 of you (wow) are going to be wandering the streets at some point, picking some pubs (the free ones..) or just staying there all night long!

Posted December 30th, 2009 - 5:32 pm by from Monterrey, Mexico (Permalink)
jaja I didnt know too what was cotillon.. I will go to the Chinese for sure they had this stuff..

Yeaah almost 40, this is going to be our own club for this night ! ! XD

And thinkin about the after.. and consederating that we are 40, Im not sure if we will fit in any pub on the NY's night..
So the chances are,
**To stay in the house ? certainly Im not sure about this
And to go to plaça Catalunya, or any other common place.

** See restrictions XD

See u tomorrow

Hi people!
YAAAAY!!! Im so surprised about the amount of e-mails received so far!! we're 40 people now, 10 more than the maximum expected initially, so it's already time to close the list and stop accepting more people.
i'm a bit affraid because 40 people is serious stuff... but c'mon!! :) we're kind of a family here! I think there will be no problem as long as we don't burn down the place...

I'd really like to invite everybody, but i just can't. I hope you understand that. Next year if some you will still be here we could try to arrange a bigger place and do a proper CS event without letting anybody out.

Afterwards we may go somewhere together and there's no capacity limit :)

I'm creating a mailing list now with everybody that i've received an e-mail so far with all the details, so check your mailbox later.

aaaaaanyway, if you reeeeally want to come and you don't have any other plans for NY, send-me an e-mail to gabriel.barra@gmail.com, or post something here, we'll se if we can do something about it but i can't assure anything!

looking forward to see you all soon!YAAAhOO this is so exciting!! :D

Paulo I am proposing a new meeting point for the people that could not fit in the party.

Plaza catalunia at 10 pm and we will wait until 11 pm. Then from there we can organize if we meet the other couchsurfers at plaza virreina (which i have no idea where it is), or go to other place depending on how many we are.

This is the first time i am joing an event, so I am just proposing. My hostel is quite close to plaza catalunia so I will be there at 10 pm any way. If there is no body then i will come back to the hostel since there are some grapes here.

See you.

Hey Guys! Since I never got the address to Gab's party, I'll meet Cristian and anyone else @ Pl. Catalunya/Las Ramblas. How about we meet next to the bike racks by the La Rambla exit from Pl. Catalunya under the red metro sign :)

We'll wait from 22h to 22.15h -- I'll have my checkered hat on, and maybe we'll have some sort of "sign" that says "CS" or something.... anyways, if you're coming post here and/or just show up! I don't have "plans" but with enough people, maybe we can make something happen!

Check out google maps: http://tiny.cc/ramblacat

Hey people! sorry for answering a bit late here...
as said before, we just cant fit anybody else inside the flat, but of course, we can meet after the "grapes" at some point to go around, but we should have a solid plan because its nonsense to go out with so much people on the streets without a clear direction (if we're not veeery drunk :p ) or maybe yes it is?? :p anyway, im sure not all the people would like to stay the whole night... also, if someone has any idea about finding/renting whatever a big place where we can ALL fit please! let me know asap so we could make any changes!!!I
this is my telephone number just in case +34675633107
cheers!
