Aaaand here is the first Question:

"The name Vienna Calling comes from the Falco Song "Vienna Calling". You can find a nice symphonic Version of this Song on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtLF6PIS-zg

In the first Minute of this Video, the Orchestra plays another famous Song, which is related to Vienna.

The Question is: What is the Name of the Song (the one in the first Minute of the Video), who made it and how is it related to Vienna?"

Please send the correct Answer until Sunday, 2nd of May, 11:59 pm (Central European Summer Time :) ) to derkits.s+quiz1@gmail.com
Under everyone who provide the correct answer we will draw one Winner who will get a free Welcome Package :)
Please don't participate, if you are not coming to Vienna Calling 2010 :)

that version you posted as a youtube link (apparently) doesnt work in germany? I listend to another vienna calling version and it started at 0:01 with maybe 4 seconds, lets call is a "classical" melody. Without saying to much, is that the melody you are refering too?

Maybe I will contact Peter Nedetzky in Wien and find the solution and email it to you tomorrow. ;)

Boring YouTube :)

Yep it is the same as the 4 Seconds in some other ones ... but 4 Seconds are harder to recognize than 1 Minute ... so for everyone here are again the Links:

YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtLF6PIS-zg
Aaand if that doesn't work, here is a Mp3 of it:
http://vienna-calling.net/files/02_falco_-_vienna_calling.mp3

And the Question again:
"Name the Artist & Songtitle of the classical Song in the first Minute of the Video/Mp3 and how that Song is related to Vienna?" ;-)

Please don't answer in the Group :)

@Caspar: Yeah maybe Peter Nidetzky can help you with this ... it's been a long time since he solved his last Case :)

well your mp3 gives me this:

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /files/02_falco_-_vienna_calling.mp3 on this server.

Apache/1.3.34 Server at vienna-calling.net Port 80

and the youtuber is not going to play in germany - but 4 seconds is enough to recognize the song....

Well ... all these technical Stuff not always works out as wanted :)

Mp3 should now be available.

Plese everyone also answer the Part: "How does the Song (the one that is the Answer :) ) relate to Vienna?"

This waltz is called the "Donauwalzer".
It was composed by Johann Baptist Strauss in 1867.

It was originally composed for the "Wiener Männergesangverein" as a Carnival song... and was given a more "serious" text by Franz von Gernerth in 1889. When this second version had it's first performance, critics called it the "Vienna anthem".

I want a package!

After the early end of the first Round, you might ask yourself: Where are the other Questions you promised ...?

Well ... they are somewhere, but not here, because we decided to also involve the surrounding Countries of Austria a little bit in this Quiz :)
If you find the next Question, you are also free to answer it :)
