Hey Dene!

first of all, welcome!

Mexico City have a lot forest in the city, and is the most important cities in the world with forests inside.

you can see in this map the red colour is the urban zone, so are more natural places as you can see in Mexico City.

http://www.cvcccm-atmosfera.unam.mx/cvcccm/proyectos_2008/proyecto_suelo_conservacion_Ordonez/Mapas/suelo_urbano_distrito_federal.JPG

the point is that you can go to camp, spend time in the rivers, climb some mountains, some volcanos, enjoy the local food in the rural areas, etc as you want, is very possible and all is in the city.

in my case, i am an urban cyclist, then only i can lend you for a bit, a bicycle for some districts (i mean with the ecobici program). https://www.ecobici.df.gob.mx/

also, you can ask for one, in some kiosks in turistic areas with your passport, and they can lend you the bicycle for 3 hours, when you return the bike, they will give you your id.

the sundays, in reforma avenue, have other programas with only 1 ID, other with 2, or others as Parque España you can rent a bicycle for 15 pesos per hour (aprox).

in fact, other female friend for the critical mass rent bikes for 40 or 50 mexican pesos per trip.

anyway, have a good ride !

hey great that now you know what do you want, really it is great !

i sended you some contacts as students of UNAM by PM.

also, all the wednesdays we ride in the critical mass with Bicitekas and some NGOs to promove the cyclism as urban transport or life style.
(in fact all days but in differents parts of the city but the most popular critical mass is the wednesday at 9pm in angel de la independencia monument, just in reforma avenue). 200 to 300 cyclists per critical mass, the others in others days, sometimes 15, sometimes 50, depends, where, when, or what NGO or colective participate.

the sundays in the same avenue (reforma), have a special goverment program to ride since 8am to 2pm, more or less, 2 millions of cyclists in this time.

kind regards and happy rides !

Hello Dene

I'm study in the UNAM. I can help you to visit the UNAM. Let me tell you, even with the student-card you can have the bike just for half an hour. I don´t know how big are you, but I´m a small guy and those bikes are really tiny for me.
I go to school by bike, and some of my friends too, so I can lend you a bike, and maybe me or one of my friends can join you to biking around UNAM.
If you are interested we go to school everyday, so there will be a bike all the week. Just send me a message.
Godspeed!
