Crew wanted from the Caribbeans to New York City or Lake Champlain
Posted April 4th, 2013 - 12:06 am by from Quebec, Canada (Permalink)
Hello sailors
I will leave Sint-Maarten (SXM) around May 15th sailing north to Lake Champlain (Upstate New York) through the Hudson River and would like to recruit 3 or 4 crew members for this trip. I am open to drop people off in New-York City, Albany/Troy, or Plattsburgh. There might be room on board for the NYC-Lake Champlain leg only depending on who stays for the Hudson River part and who gets off in NYC.

I have made that delivery every year since 2009 and am an experienced professional sailor. I have been teaching sailing to beginners, coastal sailors discovering offshore passages, and new boat owners for several years now, so this is a great opportunity for you to trade your time and energy for offshore experience and theoretical and practical knowledge.

The boat is a 2008 Jeanneau 36i with two double cabins and most cruising amenities. We will have a 3 hours stand by / 3 hours on / 6 hours off watch system, so you have to be able to adapt your sleeping schedule to the boat's 24/7 non stop offshore pace.

You are responsible for your flights and your share of the food, all other on board expenses are covered. You also have to provide your own foul weather gear (and bathing suit ;). You need to be fit, courageous, reliable, respectful, capable of working under pressure and of enjoying sun and good company on boring days in the middle of the ocean. Sailing experience is preferred but not required for fast learners willing to read a book before casting off. You also need to be fluent in English or in French, and efficient in your use of resources (fresh water, food, and electricity).

I am expecting the delivery to last about 3 weeks, but you should not have plane tickets or commitments on the 22nd day since we know when we leave and where we leave from when we go out at sea, but can't guarantee landfall timing.

Send me a message directly if you are interested to join me on this trip.

We have a full crew on this trip, thank you for your interest everybody, I'll let you know next time I need crew for a long distance trip.
There might be bunks left for the Saint-Martin - Puerto Rico (may 15th - 18th) or for the NYC - Plattsburgh (dates TBD!) legs if some of you are interested in a shorter sail, contact me directly if you want to join. The deal would be that you pay 15$/day on board for food and your own transportation, and I take care of the boat's expenses.
Fair winds!
