Florida trip in December
Posted November 6th, 2012 - 2:24 pm by from Chennai, India (Permalink)
Fellow CouchSurfers,
I'm planning to do a road trip in December 2012 to visit the whole of Florida. Planning to drive from dallas and reach Tampa and then drive to all the coastal areas. Fort Myers,Cape coral, Key west, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Boynton beach and then finally reach Orlando. The idea is to do a complete visit of florida.

I'd like to know what are the important places I shouldnt miss out on the trip. Any famous places and also any off-road places which i should visit. I'm planning for about 8 to 10 days.

Also, if anyone wants to join along, or if they will be in any city during the december 22-31, we can meetup.

thank you very much. :) i'll try to plan it accordingly.
I am still on planning stages .. I was hoping to take some nice pictures on the trip. Is there any place which you would recommend to visit for that? I heard Tampa is a good place. Thanks in advance.

If you would like an experience that is truly Florida, I suggest going Manatee watching. You can see them at beautiful Blue Springs State park north of Orlando and Ft Myers. There is a Manatee State Park in Ft Myers where you can rent a kayak and see them up close. At Crystal River you can swim with them.

I really enjoyed riding a camel and hand feeding giraffes and lemurs at Giraffe Ranch in Dade City. And also the scenic canal boat rides in Winter Park and Mt Dora, north of Orlando. And St Augustine is always lovely.

If you would like to try out a Segway (tons of fun!), there are many coastal cities that offer these scenic rides.
