Huangshan Visit 2012
Posted April 24th, 2012 - 1:49 pm by from Seattle, United States (Permalink)
Hello!

My friend, Caitlin (http://www.couchsurfing.org/profile.html?id=2YIFCP0), and I will be visiting Huangshan from May 22nd to the 24th, 2012. We would love to meet some CSers, explore the city, and hike the mountains.

We will be traveling from Beijing to Huangshan. I've heard that the best way to secure train tickets for this sort of travel is to reserve them in advance through a hotel's concierge service. Does anyone know if this is true?

In addition, can anyone recommend a straight-forward train route to get from Beijing to Huangshan, and then from Huangshan to Hong Kong?

Thanks in advance for your help. We look forward to exploring with you!

Sincerely,

Curtis & Caitlin

Hi There

If you know mandarin you can also get them from any train ticket agent. You can only buy train tickets between 5/10 days in advance this changes place to place ive found so worth to double check when you go to purchase from getting a ticket from hotel they charge commission on top of ticket. make sure you get a hard sleeper bottom bunk for the long journey more comfortable. I was there last week had awesome time if you need accomodation recommendation I know a place too thats cheap clean great food its not on the mountain but they are great and they do pick ups tours if you ask. Make sure to check out Xidi old traditional village well worth the visit. Mysterious Grottos good sights.

Hi Curtis,

The only train from BJ to HS is K45, leavs at 11:15 and reachs at 07:35 the next morning ,and after reach HS railway station,it will take u more than 1 hour to the scenic area.Another choice is to take a fast train from BJ to Hangzhou, and then take but to HS.(if you have been to Hz,its also a good chance for tour)

Here is a website http://www.12306.cn which is for train tickets booking,it is very convinient,if u can understand or else you can dial 95105105 (The official ticket booking phone) to book tickets.

And the routes to HK:
1.From HS to Shenzhen by air (but this flight not avaliable everyday),and then transfer bus to HK.If u couldnt catch the flight, then follow 2.
2.From HS to Xiamen by air (everyday),and then transfer flight to HK.

Hope this imformation will be helpful for you.
Regards
Kitty
