Hi guys,
I'm going to shanghai for a couple of weeks and was thinking about visiting huangshan while there. wont have much time though that's why was wondering if you know any fast mean of public transport to get from shanghai to huangshan. checked the trains, they are going a bit around and it takes around 10h to get there. any faster (but also quite cheap) ideas? thx a lot for all your help.

hi ,Paulina Pospiech
I am zhangxiang, from Maanshan, Anhui China.
I will give the instructions on the transport :
first you can take D5651 train from shanghai hongqiao railway
station to hangzhou .second class ticket is 52 RMB
07:16 - 08:37AM departure and arrival time
when you arrived at Hangzhou ,
you should go to hangzhou west bus station by taxi,
then you take a bus to huangshan ,huangshan has two idea,
one is the city which has 70 kilometers from the Mountain Huanshan.another is famous tour spot.huangshan.
so you should take the bus directly to Tangkou of Huangshan
scenic spot at 9:50am、10:50am、12:40PM、14:10Pm、15:10pm. the price is 99RMB
so the best bus is 9:50am , after 2h30 you will arrive at Tangkou of Huangshan scenic spot. So you can arrived at Huangshan at 1:00pm ,it cost you only less than 200.
you can choose a hotel in Tangkou ,then the day after ,you can make a good tour with the Huangshan .
hope you enjoy your trip!have a good time!
best regards
zhangxiang

3 hrs by fast train from HongQiao Shanghai, many through-out the day but they book quickly, first class is 161rmb.
Buses from Hefei to HuangShan are quite regular.

Hi Paulina,
I'm planning to go to Huangshan from Shanghai July 29 and stay until August 1. Right now I'm planning to go alone, but I'd love some company. If you're interested, I can give you some more details.

Hi Ben,
Unfortuantelly I cant really afford to spend so much time there. I'm at the summer programme in shanghai and i'm obligated to attend classes. i've got sun the 24th and sat the 30th free. was thinking to get a train somewhere nearby shanghai but really liked the idea of huangshan. so i'm pretty confused. what are u up to during the next few days? where are u exactly? we could explore togheter if u are somwhere in shanhai, as people that i'm at the programme with are pretty much mroe party animals than travellers:) i'm free most of the evenings

I'm actually still in California now. I'll be heading to Huangshan pretty soon after flying to Shanghai, then I'm meeting up with friends in Hangzhou. So maybe you could come see Hangzhou with us at some point (after Aug. 1), but I don't think we have our plans worked out at all.

Apparently, we are going to Hangzhou this weekend. I'm heading to Beijing on the 4th. I think, I wont manage with Huangshan. there's quite a lot of things to do around Shanghai and I dont really have much time for further journeys, as I'm going to Thailand after China. So Huangshan must be left for the next China expedition;) nevermind, hope u'll have a good time in shanghai and china in general. when you r here, go to Qibao Ancient Town. it's not as touristic as the centre of shanghai and u can see the diviristy of the country :)
