If we're numerous we can set a meeting point, if only few of us are interested just give me a sign, sending a message and we'll work it our when and how to meet and order/buy tickets

I'll be monitoring this topic for us to be well organised.

Thanks a lot for your attention

No, don't! It has nothing to do with Paris Rendez-vous meeting, and so nothing to do here.

I'll be monitoring this topic for us to be well organised.

Don't bother, it will be removed.

Thanks a lot for your attention too.

A very nice reply from the moderator's side...

So where would our higness send my humble meeting of harry potter addicted people?

or may be it doesn't fit at all to the format of CS?

Hi Alina,

Fly didn't mean that this meeting doesn't fit to the format of CS, but that this group is dedicated to the event called Paris Rendez-vous, happening from the 22 to the 26 of july. So we use this group only to give information to Couchsurfers about this event and for example what to do or where to sleep during this event or so that attendees can get in contact with each other. So indeed your post doesn't really fit here :)
But you can always post it in the forum of the Paris group where people will probably be more receptive and interested by your post.

So where would our higness send my humble meeting of harry potter addicted people?

Well, there are multiple forums, and you will see they have a name that usually describes pretty well what they are dedicated to.

Exemple with this one: "Paris Rendez vous 2011"

And in case this is not clear enough, you can also read the group description on its main page.

Exemple with this one: "THIS GROUP IS ABOUT THE BIG ANNUAL COUCHSURFING EVENT HAPPENING EVERY YEAR IN JULY IN PARIS"

See ? It's even in capital letters to make it easy for you. So this group is used for a specific meeting called ? Hmm ? Paris Rendez-vous (I know, it was a trick the answer was not in the description but the group name, try to pay attention ;p)

Well now, how should you know if you should post your message in a group or not ? I'm glad you asked. Well you carefully compare your message, with your group subject.

Reading again your message, it's actually not that clear and a lot is left to the imagination (but this is for another lesson, another day), so by reading between the lines I gather that you want to organize a meeting, probably in Paris for Harry Potter, and you're talking about tickets, so I guess you're thinking of [b]cinema[b] here (pirating is illegal!).

See the bold words (if the forum worked as it should for once) ? They're not here by chance, those are the keywords of your message (well actually what I guess you really wanted to say as it is not clearly stated).

With that what can you do, will you ask ? Well you can use them to decide if a group is good for your message or not. If the group description contains some of your keywords, it's good. If the group name contains them, it's probably perfect.

So let's see.

http://www.couchsurfing.org/group.html?gid=199
[b]Paris[b/] group, that's a good start.

But let's keep digging:
http://www.couchsurfing.org/group.html?gid=1817
[b]CS Meetings Paris[b]
Group for people who want to meet in Paris.
Wow, that looks pretty good for your message.

Let's see if we can find better:
http://www.couchsurfing.org/group.html?gid=1154
Anarchy And Atheism
A group about changing the way the world works..topics such as.. anarchy, anti-government, anti-globalization, revolutions, politics, social change, conspiracy theory's, peace, activism, evolution, atheism, philosophy, science, life, nature, astronomy, the universe...and whatever else comes up.
Hmm, I don't see Paris, or meeting or cinema in it, this is probably not a good idea to post your message there. Why would you even propose it ? Have you been paying attention ?

http://www.couchsurfing.org/group.html?gid=399
[b]Southeast Asia[b]
Hmmm, here neither

http://www.couchsurfing.org/group.html?gid=16652

Oh come on, they're not interested in you, are you even trying ?

http://www.couchsurfing.org/group.html?gid=2486
Cinema in Paris
That looks pretty good, two keywords in the name !! (Oh it's so exciting, maybe we found something here!!) Let's see the description:
This is a group for CS-cinema-addicts to meet
GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAL!!! Here's the third, this group got them all.

YOU SHOULD POST THERE!!

Then you will ask "But I don't know all this groups, how can I find the one I'm looking for without looking everywhere ?"

Well elementary my dear subject, you can click on "Community->Find groups". There you can enter a keywords (let's say cinema) and a place (let's start with France) and MAGIC: you find the Cinema in Paris group. Isn't technology beautiful ?

Glad I could help.

I really appreciate your time, Mr. Fly
Regarding such an elaborated text you left here I would dare to express my endless gratitude. You're doing amazing work here.

And yes, for us, retarded people, living in the shade of technological era, all this amass of infomation with its complicated forums and topic groups, nice altitude to the newcomers, weird terms of "search", "community", "subgroup" look scary and completely unapproachable. We panic in front of HTML code, but thanks heavens we have so devoted and good-hearted enlighteners, some of our moderators!

Oh, have I forget to mention how warmingly helpful people are here?

My heart is touched

all the best wishes

P.S Nothing personal
