Canadian beer

Hi fans of beer. I know a lot of North European beer (Tennent’s, Heineken, Beck's, Carlsberg, Tuborg, Guinness…) but not yet your Molson Canadian (Made from Canada). So I will be in Vancouver from the 5th to the 23rd of August and I have to drink absolutely Molson Canadian. See you in Vancouver!

Hi Alessio,

Molson Canadian is probably the most well-known Canadian beer, but it's definitely not one the best. Molson Canadian is mass produced for mass consumption, and it always seems to give me a headache. But try it and decide for yourself.

If you want advice for good places to go for beer, check out the recommendations on my profile. I'm actually moving to Salt Spring Island to work at the brewery there, but if I'm around in Vancouver we should meet up for a pint.

Molson's? No No No no..... try it of course, but after that, come with me and my friends to some places in Vancouver that serve, imho, MUCH better beer ( and ales and porters and stouts).
There are local brew pubs which are great - Steamworks, Yaletown Brew Pub for downtown anyway - but my favourite is Alibi Room. They have an ever changing menu of items on tap and also bottled.
A good place to find Belgian beer is Stella's and they have two locations.

Here's a link to the winners for the 2010 BC Beer Awards. This was the first ever BC-wide, blind-judged beer competition.

Award winners from greater Vancouver include:

Yaletown Brewery (Vancouver)
Steamworks (Vancouver)
Storm Brewing (Vancouver)
Granville Island Brewery (Vancouver... but most of their beer is actually from Kelowna)
Central City Brewing (Surrey)

Happy beer hunting!
