Posted December 24th, 2010 - 4:51 am by from Chicago, United States (Permalink)
I'm new to Vancouver and thought it would be a good way to meet new people to get a beer tasting group together- to pick an area and pick out a few good pubs to go around and try different beers on tap. yaaaa?? let me know if anyone is interested!

You're gonna love the Alibi Room. They have lots of good stuff on right now, last night being their 200th tap list.
I'm off on a week's vacation but friends and I hit this place fairly frequently. There are others around town too: Stellas, St. Augustine, Charlatan.

The Alibi Room is amazing, I encourage you to check it out! I'm not in Vancouver anymore, but I hope you can get a few people together for an evening of beer tasting.

Also, try getting in touch with the people at CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale). This is a really friendly and diverse group of beer lovers. Try going to The Whip to taste the cask beer every Sunday starting at 4pm (the table right at the door is always reserved for CAMRA members). Or, you can often find the very friendly CAMRA president Lundy Dale working at Firefly liquor store (Cambie and 12th). Tell her I sent you and she will do all she can to get you in touch with the vibrant beer community in Vancouver.

Here's the CAMRA website:

Good luck!

Hi Taylor
I've been meaning to go check out the Alibi room, but haven't had the time. I might be going there this weekend let me know if you are down to go check it out. I also heard a lot of good things about a place called sex acres in gastown.

Hey Taylor.

This is a great idea. I am also new to Vancouver and looking to meet people and of course discover good local pubs. Let's definitely meet for a drink sometime.

Hey,

Just so you know, both Stellas (Cambie and the Drive) have changed names recently. It is now call BierCraft but it is still as good. Lots of taps and bottle beers.

Alibi is a must, but I prefer St-Augustine on the Drive. They have about 20 different tap beers, all from the area.

There are a decent numbers of craftbeers coming from the kootenays, the island or the lower mainland. Let me know when you're going for a drink, I might join.
