Inaugaral Alabama All-Star Food Festival this coming Saturday May 12th in Montgomery
Part of the "Alabama Year of Food" campain from Alabama Tourism, this Foodie Fest is a 4 hour street festival benefiting the Montgomery Area Food Bank, the Alabama Sustainable Agriculture Newtork and the Hampstead Institute (a non-profit that promotes locallygrown, fresh food).
The festival is $35 in advance and $45 a the "door" (it's a street festival). Offerings include beer and wine tastings, sampling of Alabama cuisine and educational sessions. This includes the "Future of Alabama Food" roundtable discussion at 4pm in the Alley Bar garage. A must see for those interested in the Alabama local food movement.
I'll be happy to organize a meetup if people are interested in attending this!

ALSO: In support of the Montgomery Area Food Bank, the Alabama All Star Food Festival will feature an Alabama-Produced Food Drive to collect non-perishable food products produced in the state of Alabama on Saturday, May 12. Food products collected at the event will be distributed to needy communities across the River Region to help fight hunger while supporting local farmers and reducing the environmental impact of our food system.
