My English and Bulgarian for your Hungarian or German
Posted August 23rd, 2012 - 5:31 pm by from Budapest, Hungary (Permalink)
Hi guys,

I am from Bulgaria and I just arrived in Budapest. I don't understand anything and I want to be able to say at least yes and no without consulting my notebook :)

I will be studying here for the next two years, so it will be great if someone could go with me over basic expressions and words.

Also, I have lived in Germany for a few months and I will be happy to see if I can still speak the language :)

In return I can help with English (that I have studied and used a lot). I can also teach Bulgarian, if anyone might be interested :)

Best,
Iva

Thank God you're here!

I would like to practise my Serbian/Croatian - which languages, I know, a bit different from your mother thongue - but most Bulgarian people I have met so far can speak Serbian. And I can cope with the Cyrillic alphabet but I'd like you to show me how to write the letters properly.

In exchange I could teach you Hungarian. Our language is totally different from all the Indo-European ones but don't worry, I've met a couple of foreigners who can speak pretty good Hungarian.

Drop me a few lines if you're interested!

See you,

István

Hey,

Thanks for the reply! I really didn't expect that Bulgarian would do the trick :)

I don't speak exactly Serbian, but Bulgarian is close enough, so I hope that will work :) In terms of the alphabet I can definitely help :)

I'm really excited to learning how to pronounce anything else but "thank you" in Hungarian!

Let me know if you want to meet for a drink and a chat in different languages next week.

Best,
Iva

Hi Sándor,

I'd love to meet and have a chat. I know not using a language makes you forget it very quickly, so you have to practice all the time.

Hungarian is indeed difficult, I cannot even pronounce most words. But, since I'm going to be living here, I should give it a try :)

I am free during the week, most evenings after 5. Let me know what works for you, so that we can meet for a drink.

Best,
Iva
