Hi Gionata,

If you don't mind me asking, do you plan to ride 500 miles a day?
I found that that was the maximum I was able to do on my Harley, round trip from Alaska to Florida.
That ride included snow covered mountains, Death Valley and of course the Alcan.
I also found I needed a day or 2 a week to not ride as my ass and hips were taking quite a beating.

How much you can ride will give us a better time frame as to which part of the ride you will be at any time of the winter. That fact will change your plans a great deal.

Hope I can give you better info later.

Peace Lori.

Gionata,

Double check the almanacs online for temperatures around Livengood for your travel time frame and expect far worse conditions when you reach the brooks range and go through the pass. I'm sure there are more AKDOT weather stations along the road, but right now I can't find the information for them.

Keep in mind windchill factors. For example, it's about -6F out right now and with the 15 MPH wind we have the temperature is -30F. Frostbite and hypothermia will happen just as fast as it would if it were -30F with no wind (6 minutes for frostbite on exposed skin at -20F I think).

I'm not a motorcyclist and I haven't been up there in the winter in a long time so hopefully someone else will comment. Usually weather will get a little more milder in April, but the road I am almost postitively sure will be a MESS during break-up (our spring equivilent).

Stay safe.
