Derek Wallace
CS Orientation Day - Miami/Ft. Lauderdale!
Posted June 24th, 2009 - 7:55 pm by Derek Wallace from Oakland, United States (Permalink)
Hi Florida friends!

My name is Derek Wallace and I'm a Nomadic Ambassador. I'm back in the sunshine state for the summer visiting family and I will be hitting the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area at the end of July/beginning of August - so I hope to see those of you I've met before and to meet those of you I haven't!

This post is to notify you of an event I'm working on with local Ambassadors. An event of epic proportions...

Here's the event page if you want to RSVP.

Are you new to the CouchSurfing.org community? Have a friend/family member you want to walk through the sign-up process? Been around for a while, but still want to learn more about all the features of our website? Just want to come out and meet members of our community?

On Sunday, August 2nd, a group of your CS Ambassadors will be on-hand to answer any of your questions during a fun and informative session in an auditorium at a local college (to be determined).

We will show you...

How to create a good profile that will help you find hosts when traveling

How to read profiles to tell if quality members who actually care about cultural exchange are requesting to stay with/travel with you

How to upload photos

How to check your messages/personalize your notification settings

How to find hosts

How the group message board operate

How to set up event pages and send them out to fellow surfers

How to get verified/make donations

And more!

This event is currently in the planning stages as we find Ambassadors to help give presentations, a college auditorium with a projector set-up/wifi so people can bring their laptops and someone to help us film the sessions so that we can upload the info online for everyone to learn from!

In addition, we'll put together an awesome AFTER PARTY where you can mingle and chat about all the awesome information you learned! Feel free to share ideas in the thread we've created in the main Florida group!

The completed event page will be sent out soon, so stay tuned for final details!

Only 30 minutes drive northwest from Orlando.
Saturday 5/25 and Sunday 5/26.
Lessons for both Adult & kids, ages 8 to 85 years old.

Be at the club by 9:15am to meet the members and to set up a sailing lesson with someone on a sailboat. If you have a life jacket, please bring it with you. If you don't have a life jacket, there are a few that can be borrowed at the club. Sailing is a great family sport and can be enjoyed for a lifetime. International Travel News Magazine - Free Copy
Posted April 22nd, 2008 - 6:42 pm by LADYLAWYER from Winter Haven, United States (Permalink)

For anyone who hasn't tried it, I highly recommend International Travel News Magazine (ITN). It is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE (of course, I may be prejudiced, as I write for them sometimes).

It is mostly written by intrepid travelers for other travelers! It isn't a big glossy magazine. In fact, it comes on newsprint. But the 100+ pages each month are hard to put down!

You can get a FREE INITIAL COPY by sending an email at:
