Although here on CS the "read my profile or otherwise I won't even look at your request" rule is quite the norm, once you're in the field and attending events of CS, things are taken care of rather quickly.
I have done it like this in Nijmegen, Oslo and Brussel, never a real problem.
Problem is, that it IS a norm - for it is a completely idiotic and dumb norm!
Yet it will remain one as long as "the usual suspects" keep stupidly parroting and preaching it to everybody all the time...
I haven't read the profiles of those who request my couch since 2006 anymore, never read more than the CouchDescription of those, whose couch I request and have found many hosts through GroupCouchRequests or the way Coen suggested it here - and yet (wonder of wonders, miracle of miracles!) never had a bad CS experience yet!!!
Anyways: wrong thread and wrong group to discuss that here, I guess....
Maat et joot! / Take care!
P.S.: Especially wrong in (the sub-group of) a group, that is a rare exception (within its league) when it's about not being so aggressively rejecting towards "other forms of surfer-host-matching!!!
