Hosts needed
Posted November 6th, 2012 - 5:30 pm by from Ruesselsheim, Germany (Permalink)
Hello,

we are such a great group, but I think, we need more dinner hosts!!

I think - we have a whole lot of voluntary food makers around.. but sometimes its hard to find a location..!

It would be cool if some people who would generally like to host dinner parties, could speak up and also maybe mention their limits or rules, like some might just host Veggie events, some just meat, some mixed, some during the week, some on weekends.. some want cleaning help, some just a small group..!

With setting up dinners over the Events page - you can clarify all your rules as a host !

It would be nice - if we can get to know potential hosts!!

Thanks all!

Nat

Hey, that sounds great!

The best is.. if you feel like hosting a dinner at a certain date which suits also your flatmates,

you just set up an Event - rahter than discussing it big time. You set the number of guests, the timings, the theme, the rules..!

The adress you tell later individually to "normally everybody who signed in"..

BUT - in case for some reason you feel uncomfortable with someone who signed in, you just do not send the adress.

Maybe you even just want people to sign in, who are 90-100 % sure that they are coming. So you do not have to have the event being occupied by the "maybes".

In case you want to do a Potluck dinner - where everyone is supposed to bring something - have the people write in comments what they bring.. have them commit to bring something! If they do not write anything, you can increase the number of participants, but do not send them the adress.. so only "Committed people come"!

That´s how it could work!!

After setting up an Event - definately promote it here in this group with a link to the event page - as here you find the people that are waiting for those things and have their communication settings enabled..!

with a very small kitchen (space only for 2 people), I could offer to host a smaller cooking event not far from the center of Frankfurt.
As chairs and couch are limited the maximum would be 10 people.
Basically I am open for any kind of cooking. :)

Hi,

we already hosted and will probably do so again. We have a flat on the western end of Frankfurt with quite large a living room and a fully equipped kitchen. Our only "problem" is that we are rather booked out usually. But should we find time for hosting something, we will surely publish it here.

Cheers,
Tim

HI Nat-cho,

I am basically free to host, but the schedule could change very fast (job hunting) and I won't be in Frankfurt for the next 2 or 3 weekends. What about setting up something during the week?
Anyone in? Next week or the week after.
What time can you make during the week? 7? 8?

What about a soup competition :)
hope people don't leave hungry after that^^

I don't mind if veg./non-veg. / We can prepare both in different pots.

Hey,

the best is - if you just set up your Event in the events list..!

- theme
- date
- time
- if cooking in your place or bringing etc--

and then people will sign in!

For a competition though I would have people bring things, that are already made - and just need reheating or so..!

In Amsterdam we did 2 Tsatziki competitions, that were being rated later (We wrote down the feelings you got) ;-) and we accompagnied that by some warm dishes like oven potatos, some salats, bread and so on.. but the Tsatzikis everyone had to make at home and bring!

For me - I can not commit to anything during the week, but just go ahead with what suits you.. there are always some poeple who want to sign in!

Regards

If you do the soup competion, I would also have some people sign hin who bring side dishes. bread, salat etc.. let them write in comments what they bring!

Dear Nat,
haven't been here for quite a while, but happy to host small potluck and dinner events.
Max of people would be 10.
Preference would be ( raw) vegan food.
Possible on weekends, but probably not before January.
Let me know what I need to do now.
Best regards
Katja

Hi Katja,

the way it works best is to just set up your Event in the Event list and explain everything there!

As you are the host - you make the theme and set date & time and what people should bring!!

Its usually good to set the theme, write what you expect (like bring drinks, or food, if you only want raw, you write that), you set the number of max people and the system will automatically stop taking in people when the number is reached.

Your adress you give out at the very end individually in a message to everyone..!

Soooo, just go ahead..set it up and anounce it here with a link to the event, you created!

If you are not sure, you can have a look at how I set up my latest "Mini Meet & EAT", just as an example..!

But just be yourself and do it your style!

Hope that helps..

You have to go to Activities (Aktivitäten) and then on the left side "Create an Activity" - then just fill all the chapters.. maybe upload a pic.. copy the link and promote it here ;-) !!

Good luck!
