Hello all and hoping to meet people

Hey everyone, I've been a couchsurfer for a couple of years and have worked in Noojee for several months now. I've become frustrated with trying to make friends in the pubs in the area mostly due to the people that go there seem to be bigoted alcoholics through and through so I was hoping for some suggestions as to where I could go of an evening in Gippsland (I work seven days a week most weeks so joining sports teams is out of the question).

G'day Alastair,

Firstly thanks for joining up to the group - it is only new and there aren't a lot of members yet. I am also keen to organise some events but the problem everyone seems to be facing is distance - Gippsland is a big place - it isn't like a Melbourne meet where everyone can jump on a tram or train, have a BBQ, a couple of beers and then still easily get home without a long drive - for example, my place to Neerim South is almost 2 hours - and other members are from paynesville and lakes entrance which is another hour/hour and a half beyond that - we all love the open spaces of gippsland but they can be counter-productive for meeting up with people from the area!

What kind of events, and what kind of locations, did you have in mind? I'm a keen hiker and was going to try and organise an autumn hike in the tarra bulga national park with maybe a night of camping - this time is also when my house starts being built though so I have been hesitant to lock in a date. Any other ideas? Maybe a bit of laser tag in Traralgon with a BBQ afterwards - it's a good ice breaker.

Anyone else have any ideas?

Cheers

Daz

Gday,

Working 7 days a week = :-(

Guess you must do shift work making things difficult. The first group i got innvolved in out here, after moving from tas, is the latrobe yp's (www.latrobeyp.com.au) they are having drinks in tgon this friday night and are arranging a camping weekend in feb.

Im sure you would find some friendly people there, i know i love hearing other peoples adventures.

Apart from that sorry i dont know much about Noojee.

Best of luck.
