Wirilda track - Saturday 14th (day hike)

Hi all,

I know that there are already some pretty cool things on in the city on this Friday and Saturday, but im throwing this in the mix.

Last weekend I set out on a section of the track by myself, I was a little underprepared so didnt complete it (wet weather gear and good hiking boots would definatly be a bonus). Im planning to head back and check out more this saturday. My verdict is that is a great australian bush track, at one stage i sat on bolders in the middle of the river contemplating life while admiring the rain sweeping through the gorge, another i spent 5mins admirrimg a gippsland lyre bird (rare sight), most of the time surrounded by beautiful bush, the gorge and river.

This is not the hardest or most challenging hike around, but it can get hairy, a little experience and comfortable gear would help. A spare pair of shoes may also come in handy if we need to do a river crossing further along the track.

I stupidly left my notes on the trail at work. Im planning to set out early saturday morning 8ish from traf anyone who is keen is welcome to join. I need to finish mid arvo and head into melbourne.

G'day Jacob,

I won't be able to get along this weekend but if you don't have any takers a group of my mates are hiking Mt Feathertop this weekend. If you want me to give you James' email address let me know. That goes for anyone who might read this and be keen.

After the week we've had I would imagine there'd be a bit of snow up there!

I doubt it would finish in time for you to head to Melbourne but thought I would put it out there anyway.
