Medical advise - hurt my foot (doctor? hospital? costs?)
Posted February 14th, 2013 - 2:28 am by from Duisburg, Germany (Permalink)
Hi all,

as clumsy as I am, I fell over yesterday, sprained my foot and since then it hurts quite bad and I can barely walk. I'm cooling and resting it. I think the bones are okay, but I'm afraid there may be a ligament injury.

I am now thinking about going to a doctor or hospitel, but I fear I can't pay the treatment costs. I have an insurance, but you have to pay first anyway and get the money back later (-120 dollar co-payment).

What would you do if you were me? And let's say they'll do an x-ray and I get crouches or anything, what do you think it will cost?

Thank you for any advise.

Thank you, I followed your advice and it's much better by now. Glad I saved the money ;)

it's correct what ROGGET says. But I wouldn't recommend Voltaren as it recently is proven to be bad for your health. They increase the chance of getting a heart-attact or a stroke. In Belgium they want to remove them from the business market.

A supportive bandage (with 'Dauerbinde' or stretch bandage) would be most effective. If you type in 'Effective sports taping - Louisiana ankle wrap' you will find a good video. The Louisiana technique is often used as compression therapy in sport injuries.
It's important to keep a 90° angle, and applying the bandage
firmly.

Hope this helps and good luck!
