Indian evening with film, music and food - possibly 18th or 19th?
Posted November 2nd, 2011 - 1:09 am by from Budapest, Hungary (Permalink)
Hello guys,

I've long wanted to organise some gathering centred around my beloved India, with food, music, and possibly also watching an Indian film! I'm not a big fan of classical/cheesy Bollywood, but I love Aamir Khan production films which tend to be more sensible... I'm open to suggestions!! :) Maybe we could watch some documentary or social issue-related film, like Water... Maybe we could even make a monthly/fortnightly series of screenings! :)

So, who's interested? The date is no fixed yet. I would like to do it at my amazing new place near Keleti... We can also cook / share Indian food, indulge in classical and popular Indian music, and share our often life-changing experiences with the incredible culture and people of India, and so on... maybe even practice some hindi / other Indian language :))

One question is, who could possibly lend us a projector for the film screening(s)?

Any other ideas suggestions are welcome!

I'm definitely in, although I have no idea what I could contribute to this... wanted to offer my flat, but it looks like you have a place already. Anyway, I can't wait for the first event!

hello guys!
hmm apparently i have to reserve that weekend for family stuff (my um's 50th birthday is around that time), but the following weekend could work: 25-26th, once i decided about the date (which will be more than difficult, i can hardly commit myself 3 days ahead :D :D ) i will make an event!

Hello guys,
so, 2 options:

26th Nov Saturday from 8pm (I'm at a Bollywood dance workshop 4-7, hah! :D ) OR
2nd Dec Friday from 6pm

8pm might be a bit late for a start, if we wanna do all kinds of stuff, cook, hang out, watch film, maybe even dance ;)
but Saturday may be a better choice...

let me know which one u prefer!

Hello people, thanks to all of you for your interest! :)
So, I've made up my mind, the party will be on 2nd Dec Friday, from 7pm. It would be nice if you could bring something that you yourself would be happy to see at the party. I think it's better to have food that we already prepare beforehand, we can make another event specifically about cooking another time (it takes time).
I will prepare some (wannabe)Indian food but if you also like cooking, it would be nice if you could bring something that we can share! Drinks are also welcome, as well as music, etc. I think we'll start the film a little later, around 9ish I guess; and I will try to find shorter films to choose from (suggestions welcome!!). After the film we can hang out some more if we want, u, know, just as it goes... I don't have to get up early Sat morning :)
So, very welcome all of u, feel free to bring a friend etc etc... And if u have some nice Indian-sytle clothes hanging sadly in your wardrobe this is the chance to sport them :))
Ok this is it, hope to see many of u,
Tab tak :)

oh and please sign up to the event, here's the link:
thanks ;)
