Advice for bookshops in NZ
Posted January 2nd, 2013 - 8:01 am by from Rome, Italy (Permalink)
Hi everybody,

Some friends and I will be in NZ from jan. 15th to feb. 13th and we planned visit at least Christchurch, Dunedin and Auckland (hope Wellington too).

I am looking for one or more good bookshops specialized in everything related to NZ - local history, maps and so on. I was surprised how difficult is to find even a general road map - I had to order it in a local bookshop. I am also interested in Maori language. I know that English is spoken everywhere but my aim is different. Philology is one of my interests and the few phrasebook available on the net are not exactly what I am interested in.

So, I have a feeling that I'll have an almost unique chance to see and choose much better with respect to online catalogs. We'll spend a few days in each city, so I'd like avoid trial-and-error strategy.

Any suggestion would be most welcome.

I wish you all an Happy New Year.

Thank you very much, Kev, very helpful. I am a bit surprised to hear that bookshops are disappearing in NZ also but it would OT to talk about that sad trend. Hope to have a chance to return your kindness.
