Hiking Partners
Posted April 2nd, 2013 - 3:51 pm by from Vancouver, Canada (Permalink)
Hello everyone!

I do lots of hiking on the weekends and am always looking for new hiking partners. I do lots of planned hiked with different groups on Meetup.com, but many of them do not allow dogs. My dog is a hiking partner, she lives for the outdoors and she is just a non-negotiable!

I do have a car and can take a couple of people with me at a time. You can bring your dog, but it has to be a small one as I only have a two-door RAV4. Your pup must be able to sit on your lap or between your legs in the front seat.

It is so hard getting to the mountains with a dog if you don't have a car!

In terms of my hiking experience, I would not consider myself an expert - I am not fully self-suffient, but am working towards this.

Hikes I have completed: The Chief, Grind, Joffres Lakes, Baeden Powell (retunr trip 23km), the Rockwall, Juan de Fuca.

Trails I would love to do this year: The Lions, WCT (if I can find a dog sitter for Eleanor), North Coast Trail, Black Tusk (again, need a dog sitter), Joffres (I love that hike), and a few on some of the Gulf Islands. There are tons to be explored.

Hi Deanna,
I would very much like to come along with you on some hikes. I love dogs and would be happy to pay gas money.

I am not an expert about hiking in BC and haven't been on many near Vancouver but I've done some hiking in Scotland and Iceland I'm relatively fit. I am here in Canada (from the UK) on a year long work visa and I'm working at some theaters downtown.

My visa runs out in June but would love to accompany you on some trips before then! Let me know.

Hi Deanna and everyone!

I'm from Spanish, doing an stay research at UBC, so I don't know too much about BC. I love hiking (Pyrenees, Alps,...), but without a car is difficult to arrive at some places. Luckly I have a bike, so I can explore and make exercise with it.

I would very much like to come along with you on some hikes and, of course, share "gas money". I haven't a dog, but I like so much animals.

Hope to see you soon,

Jaume

Hey Everyone,

So I was thinking, maybe we should do a hike soon.
Here is what I have in mind and it will be kind of weather dependent:

April 13th
Departure Time and Location: 9am from Safeway at Broadway and Commercial.

Hike Details: Levette Lake Loop
http://www.vancouvertrails.com/trails/levette-lake-loop/

** I have never done this hike and am by no means an expert. We will have a good time though!

If time permits, we can go grab a beer afterwards in Squamish at Howe Sound Brewery.

I am going to say that a maximum of two people can join. My dog will be tense if anymore people come and she will need her own space in the car.

In terms of car cost, I think it would be about $15 per person, return trip.

Hi! It would be great if you could bring your car, too! I have had one person email me and then someone messaged on the board. How many people can you fit?

Posted April 5th, 2013 - 4:19 pm by from Vancouver, Canada (Permalink)
Hi Deanna!

If you still have space in the car I would be delighted to join you in this hikking to Levette Lake in April 13th.

Let me know if it is ok and hope to see you soon!

The car is full for the trip this Saturday, but I am thinking of doing another hike on April 20. If you are keen on that, let me know.

I haven't thought of which hike yet, but maybe one of you have some ideas!

Hello. Any planned hike on April 27? Maybe you can repost this so more people would see it. ANyway, I would be interested in a hike on the 27th. Not a lot of experience but up for the challenge. Been back to the gym a couple of weeks and hope this will help.

Now that the weather is getting better, I will be going out more. I will definitely go May 11 or 12th. If you are interested, please send me a message.

Also, because I am a teacher-on-call, I sometimes do not get called in. If you are capable of doing last minute hikes, also send me your information indicating so. Work can call me until 8:30am, after that I am free to play. :)

Hey everyone,
I am coming to BC for the incredible trekking opportunities! So excited this thread exists. I am an avid hiker and would LOVE to do the West Coast or Juan De Fuca trail in early July. Any trails actually, I would be happy to pitch for gas money.

Hi Deanna,

I wish I have seen this message much earlier. If snowshoeing is available, I would like to join you or anyone else who is going. I just have done a backpacking trip to Elfin Lake this weekend with snowshoes. It was rather tough for me because I had a wrong type of snowshoes and backpack was a little heavy to carry for long hours. Anyhow, I will work on that one. Let me know if anyone is going snowshoeing or generally any hikes (I have done Chief, Grind, Mt. Gardner, and Garibaldi Lake so far this summer).
