VIMFF - Vancouver International Mountain Film Festival
Posted February 4th, 2011 - 6:53 am by from Vancouver, Canada (Permalink)
Hi

VIMFF - February 11th - 19th

http://www.vimff.org/pages2.asp?portalid=4&pageid=62&news=19¤tpage=1

I'm keen to go and see a few of the shows that are on starting next Friday at the Mountain Film Festival.
Personally want to see the Opening Evening on Friday 11th, the Alpine Climbing Evening on Saturday 12th and the Mountaineering evening on Thursday 17th.

If anyone else is keen and wants to meet up for a drink before or after then let me know and we'll see if we can get a little group together.

$20 a ticket on the night or 3 tickets for $40 if you buy them in advance from MEC or Lonsdale Ave, N Van.

Hey!! Just got some tickets.
Will be there for the
- 11th, opening evening
- 12th with Jesus, my boyfriend, for the Cycling evening in the Pacific Cinematheque
- if someone would be interested to go to the Canada evening on Sunday, the 14th, I would be easily convinced:-)

For the opening evening, where would you guys suggest to meet? And when?

I am potentially in for a show on the 11th!

Anyone interested in going to '180 Degrees South' on Tuesday the 15th at 730pm at Pacific Cinematheque?? or a different one?

Okay, I just bought a ticket for the Opening Evening as well. I will also be going to watch 'Life Cycles' on Friday the 18th.

Where do people want to meet before the show this Friday? Do people want to go for a beer someone close to the theater or somewhere else?

Posted February 9th, 2011 - 9:26 pm by from Vancouver, Canada (Permalink)
Hey Jeremy, good you are in for Friday.
I would think it would be good to meet close to the theater on Friday night. Do you have suggestions concerning a good location for a beer and maybe some food close there? I don't know the area well.
The doors open at 6.30 so I guess it makes sense to be there more or less around this time to find good seats. What if we meet at 5.30pm that Friday for beer, burger and chat?

Already looking forward!

Heyho friends of the great outdoors!

I just got my ticket for the opening evening! Would be awesome to meet up with all of you before the show begins.
My roomie told me there are a bunch of great places to go along Lonsdale Ave.
Shall we say for now to meet up in front of the theatre in order to find a nice spot to go?!

5:30 pm sounds good to me! And the burger thing really attracts me, too! ;)

See ya soon!

Cheers
Ron

Yahhooo!

I know that a White Spot is pretty much across the street from the theater and then there is a Browns down the street and a couple other places depending on what people want to eat. I'm sure we can figure it out tomorrow.

See you guys at 530!

HA. Oh my, this is way too many posts of the same sort. By now we all should know when and where to meet, ha. I guess I refreshed the page two too many times:-) Sorry guys!

BTW ...my friend Eileen just wrote me:
"Cool. Keep in mind that there is a reception inside (complete with food, beer & tunes) at 6:30 with the food & tunes part covered with admission, and the beers reasonably priced. "

So everybody who wants to meet early, I guess we should be in time at 5.30 or a bit earlier so that we get everything done to be back at the theatre at 6.30. It sounds good!

I'll be going to the Opening tonight; Alpine Climbing Evening on Saturday (Ines Papert baby! can't miss her... :P) and Canada Evening on Sunday. I'll see you guys later this evening at Centennial - probably can't make there that early around 5:30pm. There's a KFC right across the street from Centennial, but definitely more and better choices along Lonsdale.

@Amy: Let's go to the Canada Evening together.

@Gisela: We'll say hi and we should grab a coffee or drink afterward.

@Bruno: If you have a chance, it's always worth it to check out the Banff World Tour - they always have some great selections, more to let you see beyond VIMFF, or you see it the other way. It was here in Vancouver in December. Sometimes, they have different lineups for different locations.

@Jeremy: Life Cycles is a great film! I watched it at the Banff World Tour in December. I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Great to meet you guys yesterday at VIMFF.

It seems that there was a lot of excitment about getting some plans together for indoor climbing and some hikes/snowshoes and more later in the year.

I'm going to check out a new wall today so will put up a post later with a few suggested times and dates to get the ball rolling.

Lee

- Ryan - I'm at the VIMFF again tonight for the Alpine night but won't be getting there too early as I have a busy day but keep an eye out for me.

Amy: Yes, I can meet you at the theatre around 7pm. But I'm also planning to hang out with Isabel (in this thread) before the show for a quick bite and/or drink. You are more than welcome to join us, if you want to. I'm hitting Whistler during the day tomorrow, will be back before 6:30pm. So, the best way is to text/phone me at (778) 990-2770. You can contact Isabel to see where we'll be at as well.

See you tomorrow!
Shane

Okay, lets say meeting point for tonight's Canada evening is the Templeton at 6 pm/ 1087 Granville Street. See link (I hope it works it seems quite like a long one)

http://maps.google.ca/maps?rls=com.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox&oe=UTF-8&rlz=1I7ADRA_en&redir_esc=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=templeton+vancouver&fb=1&gl=ca&hq=templeton&hnear=Vancouver,+BC&cid=0,0,3162126591215352754&ei=3FhYTcD7BYi6sQPd6aicDA&sa=X&oi=local_result&ct=image&resnum=2&ved=0CB0QnwIwAQ

There we can have a bite and then go to the theatre.

See you then
Isabel
