Sunday, June 5. Get our hike on.
Good day team!
So. The weather is improving. Really, I promise it is! Who cares about a little rain though? So. On Sunday I feel that it would be appropriate to attack some North Van trails. After we have recovered from our Game 2 hangovers, I want to trek across the hills from Grouse Mountain down to Deep Cove via the Baden Powell trail.
There are a couple of distinct advantages to going with this direction of travel. One, we will overall be traveling DOWNHILL, which is always nice, and two, there are better post-hike beverage options in Deep Cove. So, that's the plan, in broad strokes.
I propose we meet at Waterfront Station (Vancouver side) at 11:45 to catch the noon seabus over to the North Shore, once on the North Van side, we will take bus 236, departing at 12:17, arriving at Grouse at 12:36, according to Translink's posted schedule.
This is a fairly long, but pretty easy hike. I would estimate a travel time of approximately 4.5 hours to Deep Cove, depending on the speed of the group. I would recommend that you bring some water and snacks, but it's nothing major really. There are many opportunites for people to drop off the trail and into civilization if they're not feeling up to continuing, and there's also the Lynn Canyon Suspension Bridge along the route. We won't have a ton of fantastic views, but it's nothing to cry about either.
So I'm posting this in a few spots, reply or message with any questions or thoughts. Hope to see you all there!
