How to get from Europe to South America
Posted January 16th, 2013 - 10:18 pm by from Sliema, Malta (Permalink)
Hi! I would really like to backpack for a few months in 2014.. and thought it would be a gd idea to book from now to have cheaper flights. Does anyone know what's the cheapest way to get to South America? I don't mind taking 4 or 5 flights to get there as long as it isnt too expensive! Any advice?

Hola Martina,

I imagine it all depends where you want to travel first in South America.

For example, I know there are direct flights from Amsterdam, Paris and Madrid to Lima, Peru, but they are not necessarily cheap, although you can get good deal through KLM, Air France, and Iberia if you look ahead of time.

Another option is flying multi-stop, either through North or Central America. I've seen flights that go though the United States, Mexico or Panama, with United, Delta, Aero México or a Combination of KLM and Copa, or Iberia and Avianca, that lower the airfares considerably.

You can also explore possibiliies through Rio and Sao Paulo.

If you have more questions, let me know.

try Condor air from Germany to the North of Brazil - recife or salvador - you may be a bit keen though - most airlines only allow booking a year in advance - Condor is a budget German airline. Iberia - I actually found flying to the states and using a budget airline to Colombia to be the cheapest option - but i flew in from Asia! Good luck

Also bear in mind - school kids go back start of March form their long Christmas/summer vacation, flights after this may be cheaper this way!
