Hey guys!

I am going to do social internship to Brazil and i dont know where to go.
Please advice me.
Sao Luis,Maranhao or Joinville, Santa Catarina?

Thank you!

since you are from russia, i say sao luis may be way too hot for you, and joinvile is a good place to go.

The culture in maranhao is more like the brazilian and maybe african culture, while joinvile and other cities on the south have a mixed culture between brazilian and european.

Both choices are good, depends on what you want / expect to find

Joinville worth the visit but its cuisine and culture are heavily influenced by Europe. In São Luis Cuisine and culture are a real eclectism of African, Indigenous and European traditions. the cultural richness reach its peak on the second half of june(festas juninas) when all over the city you will be able to see dozens of traditional cultural performances.
to highlight "Bumba-Meu-boi" something mixing Dance, Music even theather ,and truly amazing if you witness it alive.
besides that maranhão state was one of the most amazing natural wonders in the world.(lençois maranhenses) maybe the biggest coastal dunes system in the world. and one more hidden trasure in the region of Carolina(southwestof the state) a ecoturism paradise...

Maybe see you there becuase I will be by a third time next festas juninas in Maranhão.

I will stay in ubatuba for the carnival, consider yourself invited to go =), its a beach town that takes around 3 hours to get there from São Paulo by car / bus, depending on the time you leave the city.

its a beautiful place to go, there are 32 waterfalls near the city if I`m not mistaken, and a few places to go out at night.

feel free to add me on skype or facebook, contact details are on my page.

And any place you decide to go, have fun, and be careful.
