camp together at the beach
Posted February 14th, 2013 - 4:42 pm by from Karlsruhe, Germany (Permalink)
hola everyone!

I arrived in Chile 6 weeks ago and am currently on Ihla Grande - paradise by the way. As my plan is to stay as long as possible in South America and I discovered that everything is more expensive than expected, I decided to buy a tent and camp on the beach, learn surf..and so on..save my money and live simple :)

Anyone out there who wants to join me? I thought of Ubatuba..but I'm open for everything :)

Also, anyone knows about volunteering in a hostel next to the beach, really want to learn surfing...so I don't want to be far away from the beach. ;)

Well, if you are in the same situation or just think it's a sweet idea, reply to this ;)

love Jill

Hi Jill,

Your idea sounds great. Depending on where you're going to be, I'd be up to join you. I'm leaving right now Rio de Janeiro and will go to the South of Brazil. If you'll be in Ubatuba at about Sunday, I'd join you for few nights.

Please give me more informations.

Rafael, thanks for your message. sounds lovely where you live! do you think it's dangerous to camp on the beach? in case of people? I don't really know...haven't made any bad experience yet, but of course, I don't have a clue.

Hi Jill , I hope you enjoying a lot now, about camp , when I camp in wild places in the mountains , or wild island's I dont have problems with people , but camping in open places in the coast I never did , because is very comum to pay to stay in camping sites, If you camp in a open place the people can stole you when you go out, and in the camping sites check if have a place to lock your important things, or you can loose too, I hear a lot about people loosing itens because the people stoled in camping's in the beach, I said all about this just to you take care, in my place we camp and never had a problem. but in Ubatuba and other cities in the coast have people from all the brazil traveling and have good and bad people , because this take care! Cruzeiro is close Ubatuba ( 172 km) is in the base of the mantiqueiras mountain's if you want to come to visit send a msg , and if you need more tips feel free to contact me !!!
Have a lovely week! All the best, and enjoy for me : )

Best regards
Rafa

Hi folks,

thanks for all those replies.

I`m volunteering at the moment in a hostel close to Petropolis. The place is beautiful and I get free accommodation and board. thats why I decided to stay a month.

Though, perhaps we can manage to meet up somewhere else to camp. As I`ve heard more creepy stories about camping on the coast, I`m not quite sure whether it is the wisest idea to do. After Brazil, I`m heading South, if money is enough, I`ll try to make it to Uruguay, if not Argentina right away!!! If your way is down there as well, perhaps we can meet somewhere!!!

All my love Jill
