Safety in Ecudaor
Posted December 28th, 2012 - 9:55 am by from Sells, United States (Permalink)
I have traveled a fair amount. I try to be careful and not get into bad spots. Given that statement, are there special safety precautions I should take when visiting Ecuador?

Beware of pick pokets in Quito. Two (or three) kids appeared to me on a roundabout between Av La Coruna and 12 de Octubre. They insisted on selling me some paintings. I ignored them and kept walking. When they finally got away, my celular was gone from a side pocket in my jacket with a zip. I just realized it a few seconds to late. I'm sharing this so the next target may avoid this kind of technique.

That was my only inciddent and a minor one. Smaller towns are more relaxed.

Having said that, I only have good memories of Ecuador and it's people, and do recommend it to all my friends.
