I will be there Friday at 2pm with 3 others so if we can help then we would be more than happy to!

How we can all help:

First thought that comes to mind is writing a goal for the next year and burning it with the couch as an offering to the gods for good luck towards making it come true!

I will think more but am sure there are lots of other great ideas out there!

Sorry, but I would love to keep religion specifics out of it. I'm Christian. Unless you wanna write "Go JESUS" on the couch please don't write "GO MULTIPLE GODS" on it? Burning man may have been started as.. whats that word... pagan? but it's all inclusice as a rule now at least, please keep it open to everyone! THanks!!!!

K, now I have to get this off my mind so I think of this no more. I'll see you there & will be willing to debate further should anyone wish, but this is my take:

This applies only to announcing to the group online OR writting on the couch specifically OR announcing this before the burning of the couch as though its official BUT:

The idea itself I love, see what we want, burn it, it's burned into our psyche, we evolve during the year & see it through, gather again next year & enjoy the results... or however each of us sees this personally. Me: psycology, YOU: gods.... All that I'm behind. What I'm not behind: The organizers of BUrning Couch jumping atop the couch on final night with the crowd rouded & gathered around, screaminng "Thank you for gathering, this is an offering to the GODS!!!! LET THEM EXCEPT IT!!!" I am against this because you would turn this into something else & exclude me. If the organizers do this, I can no longer say "yeah, maybe some ppl think burnign things ties to a religion, but we each go for what WE EACH believe. I just LOVE burnign things!" Please consider this seriously before this goes further. The end.

The following was what I was suggesting as an idea...

"First thought that comes to mind is writing a goal (on paper) for the next year and burning it with the couch for good luck towards making it come true!"

The following was an example of what it might symbolize to certain individuals to prove a point and was not meant to imply I wanted to have religion involved with this in any way...

"as an offering to the gods"

I have learned that it is always good to be 100% clear with words so they are not perceived as meaning something else. In writing my previous message I was obviously not 100% clear of what I was suggesting.

BK, i think we are thinking about this too much... Also, every time someone weighs in on these various threads they also get credit as an "organizer"/// I'm a man-child; simply excited to burn something and watch it burn (if my band is on at that moment we will play "Burning down the House" (substituting couch for house?). To try to attach meaning to art (if it could be considered art) is fine with me as long as everyone can just let it burn. "An offering to the Gods", "an offering to our Psyche", "an offering to tomorrow", "an offering to Orient", and whatever... there shall be (i hope) no service... perhaps someone can simply declare: Thanks for being here, now let's Burn the Couch!! Again, let's just burn a make-shift couch and see it however we feel comfortable seeing it...

Thanks, I'm behind all that was said above! I know I was risking sounding too serious, but sometimes it's better to say something then wish you had later - so I did - & I appreciate your responses. I know, "organizers" but whoever jumps atop that couch may in fact be considered an "organizer" or "that guy" but hey, I know what you mean!!! I"M ALMOST THERE!!!!! I think burning a couch is hilarious by the way.
