hey cs!!

I wonder why there is no reaction to your posts - I would love to help you!! for that I'm gonna ask some bakeries and butchers around my neigbourhood whether they could donate some old stuff for saturday. I can also cook something if that helps - that's the least to do! I'm gonna get in contact with you nika and take the stuff to your place:)
greetings, silvia

Hey!

I'd like to help gather some food, too. Unfortunately my turkish isn't good enough to explain to my turkish butcher/baker what I want from him. Could someone translate the following sentence for me, please?

"On saturday my friend goes to feed the dogs in Beykoz Forest. I wanted to ask you if you could donate some food for them. I would be most grateful!
When can I pick it up?"

So far I got to:
Cumartesi arkadasim Beykoz Ormani gidiyor ve köpegi beslemiyor. But then I don't know how I can ask for their contribution?!

Thanks folks :)
Katarina

The translation would be:

"Cumartesi arkadaşım Beykoz ormanı'na köpekleri beslemeye gidecek. Onlara vermek için yiyecek bir şeyler bağışlayabilir misiniz?"

"kopegi beslemiyor" means "he or she doesn't feed the dog", so it would be the polar opposite.

Thank you a lot, Ulas! Now I can go on my butcher-and-bakery-tour :)

Cheers

I would like to send you some dog food but i don't have time to bring it to you, my work hours are a little unpredictable. If you could message me an adress i can send you the food. I'll buy it online and i can get it sent to you directly from the store. You can use it for next Saturday maybe?
(15 kg adult dog food)

Sorry about the triple post :) It posted itself 3 times, every time i refreshed the page.

I bought 2 packs of 15 kg dog food and paid using online money transfer. I included the note and gave your name. I hope you don't have any trouble picking it up tomorrow. I sent the documents to your e-mail.

Hi Burcu,

I found this post a little too late since it is saturday already but I would love to help you with this project however I can in the future. You know how much I love dogs, Burcu :) I can certainly donate food too. Perhaps we can ask local migros stores what they do with their past due date meat? Maybe they would be willing to donate it, since we know it can still be eaten even if the date is finished on the package. I am sure a lot of it just goes to waste.

Let me know what you think Burcu, also I can go with you next saturday if you want :)

Also Burcu,

it sounds like you are cooking a lot of food, if you need help getting some of it cooked, let me know and I can cook some at my house too.

Hey Burcu!

The doggies are most welcome! Thanks for spending so much time for this matter. :)

I think you should also post the success message here: http://www.couchsurfing.org/group_read.html?gid=957&post=8272867
Success messages are always good reminders of good causes and could work effectively as non-pushy "reminders for food", probably.

Just to keep it a bit going in the Istanbul group. Some people might remember your cause then. I think it might help.

Cheers
Katarina

Hi everyone,
I will be going to Beykoz with Burcu on Saturday and I will look for bones and meat to cook for them. I hope my butchers are friendly, since I am a vegetarian, I have never met them :)

Hey there..

I absolutely love the group spirit in this thread!

I would very much like to go to Beykoz with Burcu but lately I am really too busy with school and work, after 2 May I might be able to..

Burcu also why not making an event of this on the Foster Homes for Strays group as well?I suggest my friends to join in here but it would reach others too and perhaps with a link from the event page to CS group in here?

much love to you guys

i am joining this saturday too i ve asked to restaurants, bakery shop and butchers for some leftovers. nicely butchers already made some deals with other pet owners or helpers, migros wants 5 tl per kg of bones and unusable meat parts.
But two bakeries and one restaurant will save their leftovers for me to collect tomorrow morning. i am living at erenköy near minibüs yolu migros. i have a car but i hate to drive, i can join your vehicles if you have empty spots.

Hello Burcu!
My name is Nicole and I also live here in Istanbul. I just discovered your project and I would really like to help in any way that I can. I don't have a car or a driver's license but I could try to gather food from places in my neighborhood. I will ask around. But, I wonder, if I manage to gather food, do I meet with you somewhere next Saturday to give it to you? Or do I have to come to your restaurant in Moda and leave it? This could be difficult without a car...
My Turkish is still not so great but I will do my best to help. Do you have any tips on specific things I could do or something that might help you more?
I think its wonderful that you are doing this and want to support in any way that I can...
Nicole

Hello Burcu,

I really want to help out with the feeding, would love to see the place. I can cook some rice, pasta, find bread whatever you need. I just need to do something for all these animals here in Istanbul. I am currently fostering 3 kittens and desperately need to find them a home. If you know anybody for this that would be great too. Anyways, back to the dogs, please if you need any help i am very very happy to come along. I live in beyoglu..

Please let me know
