Start Up?

Yo everybody.

I see the tread has sort of died off. There are clearly enough bars around the city serving great beer and plenty of great books to talk about.

Any interested in reviving the group? If your interested say Arr so we can kick this off.

Alright lets get this rolling (sorry, swamped with work for the past week or so).

To kick this off lets start with the beer. We'll all say hey and decided on a book. For fun though, read

"The Use of Force" by William Carlos Williams
http://www.classicshorts.com/stories/force.html
&
"The Fly" by Katherine Mansfield
http://www.inlex.org/stories/mansfield/thefly.html

Two short stories to start up the conversation.

My vote for time and place is LES/Thursdays. I've been to the CS meetings on Thursday, they're chill but not too great of a place to chat.

Posted February 6th, 2013 - 11:20 pm by from New York, United States (Permalink)
LES/Thursdays sound good to me. Next Thursday is Valentines, not sure how people feel about that?

Posted February 10th, 2013 - 10:15 pm by from New York, United States (Permalink)
I'll be out of town for a few weeks, hopefully this picks up. I'm definitely interested when I get back.

Posted February 18th, 2013 - 4:57 pm by from Brooklyn, United States (Permalink)
Everyone down for this Thursday Feb 21?

Date: Feb 21

Place: Lolita Bar (as a salute to Nabokov)
266 Broome St (between Orchard St & Allen St)
LES

Time: 7pm (just because that's when I'll get there . . .
it doesn't make sense for me to go home then back out. Plus we get an hour of Happy Hour)

Me: I'll have on an orange/brown beanie with orange puff ball . . . follow the puff ball.

Let me know if you're interested/going. I'll try and score a table/booth that will accommodate our ruckus

The day has arrived.

I imagine we'll have a smaller turnout this week since it is the first one. But it'll be nice to meet a few of you and really get this start.

Again

Yesterday was a success, threw back some brews and contemplated the meaning of . . .

Randi and Oliver, it was great meeting you two.

We've decided that we'll continue meeting on Thursdays.

Next meet up: March 7 (might be pushed back a week)

Time: 7pm

Place: TBD Village/LES.

Book: Swamplandia! by Karen Russell

Page #: 355 Short Little Fun Read

We're hoping to have the book read by then. It'll be a nice little read for the daily commute.

Hope to see a few more of you out next time.

My bad gents on keeping up. This week has been a bit crazy.

I cannot meet this week aka tomorrow. If everyone else feels like it, feel free to make plans. (I am running the NYC Half-Marathon on Sat & the group I with is meeting tomorrow . . . by bad.)

Official

Meet up: March 21 (it's a Thursday)

Time: 630pm (2X1 Happy Hour runs til 8)

Place: 9th Ward
180 2nd Ave
(between 11th St & 12th St)

Book (again): Swamplandia! by Karen Russell

Hopefully there will be around 6/8 of us total, good showing. Let me know who is in. (Sorry again about the change, won't happen next week.)

Marcela- I know making plans on the weekends is hard for me (it's difficult enough during the week). If you want to set up something, awesome. I'll be there when I can.

Well last night was a great success! The focus turned to beer over books rather quickly (I blame the Kahlua ladies).

Flo-awesome meeting you, hope to see you again.

To get this a bit more streamlined, email me if you want to join the club:

LanceENation@gmail.com

We're going to make this a one a month thing, next meeting will likely be the 25 of April (maybe 18 . . . we can figure that out later).

Late update: I'm horrible, I know.

Meeting Tomorrow (May 8): Blind Pig (14 between 2 & 3)

Book: The Company You Keep by Neil Gordon

Time:7

Hope you see anyone there. Again, if you want better updates email me & I'll add you to the email chain.
