What is UP Desert Folks!?

I can't seem to find anything "exciting" up here. This area is now a SPRAWLING extension of the LA metropolis! What is there to do around these parts? what about NATURE and prehistorical stuff? Helllloooo? :)

What type of "excitement" are you looking for?

Hiya Lauren!
That's a good question! Live music? Awesome day trips or hikes? Umm, activities not related to shopping? I'm just curious what the other CSers in the high desert areas are up to to keep their mind active :)

I think I'm going to hitchhike to Death Valley on Monday. The weather looks perfect for hitching and sleeping in the dirt! Any suggestions on where to go in that area (without a car)?

Pappy and Harriet's near Yucca Valley is a hot music venue, they have lesser known bands and very well known bands stop by, the likes of Vampire Weekend, the Hives, Peter Murphy (Bauhaus), Peaches, Les Claypool, etc.

Not to mention there's lots of music festivals that happen throughout the year if you keep your ears open.

BTW how was your trip to Death Valley? That place is extensive! Very beautiful as well.

I never hitched to Death Valley, but I did drive through just a few weeks ago. Yep, some of the roads were closed because of the government shut down.

I'm back in the desert for now (worked in Alaska for the summer). It'll be easier to get to things with a car :)

Have you been to Pappy's and Harriets lately?
