Posted January 15th, 2013 - 5:20 am by from Chicago, United States (Permalink)
Hello everyone :)

This is Ophelia - Im from Taipei originally but I have been living in Beijing for the past 10 years. So you see, not super familiar with the city and would love to explore with fellow travellers!

I will go back to Taipei on Jan 16 for Chinese New Year and this time stay longer until March in order to get my driving license. I will stay in Taipei mainly, also woud love to visit Taichung and other cities that I havent been to.

Anyone will be in Taiwan during Jan-March, feel free to drop a reply.. Let's do something fun together!

Cheers! :)

Perhaps you should try the CS Taipei Weekly Meet Up

I haven't been to CS Taipei weekly meet ups before (but I did other CS meet ups in some US and European cities), but I imagine they will be good places to start...

If you are interested in (1)hiking or (2)visiting the national palace museum, please let me know and perhaps we can sort out the right time and announce it as a public event for other CSers to participate in.

---more on hiking---
For the easiest hike near Taipei may be the Mt Elephant, with sort-of-free U-bike access point nearby connecting to Xinyi area. I believe someone in counchsurfing has organized such hikes before, especially for the great view of Taipei 101.

I have organized a more challenging hike not far from Mt. Elephant, as described here Mt. Tiger https://www.couchsurfing.org/activity/view/JIJXX5/great-view-rock-climbing-experience-easy-xinyi?utm_campaign=activity&utm_medium=email&utm_source=cs

It went well despite the bad weather. However, the rock climbing part may be a bit challenging for your arms.

---more on national palace museum---
Haven't visited there for many years. Don't mind trying it again with others, preferably during the free-admission nights.......

thanks so much for the msg!
It's exciting to know that you're an active Cser too!

I've participated in CS events in Beijing, Bangkok and Manila and just recently got back from surfing in the Phillpines ! I'd love to join CS events in Taipei as well.

As for your proposal, I'm interested in both hiking and national museum! ( ESP the musuem...having a hard time finding a companion to go with! )

I just arrived in Taiwan today. Pls get in touch with me via : 0981420556. We can talk more and plan the sightseeing soon.

Good. The National Palace Museum seems to have free nights (only for ROC citizens) for Friday and Saturday evenings.

Weather-wise, the forecast seems to have this coming Saturday and Sunday as drier days for hiking.

Not sure if I have the time to do them both this weekend. Let us work out the exact time/logistics (preferably via private messages in order not to overburden others' attention here) and announce it for other CSers to join.
