Hi Erich,
I don't surf and don't know anyone who does here. I guess you are aware of the water and air temperatures at this time of the year??? Well not sure how much Vancouver is warmer, but anyway, I hope you are prepared.
Well the reason why I am answering is not to make you worry. I actually know this company who sells surfing trips. I don't know if they do at this time of the year.
But they are pretty laid back and open and if you contact them and tell them about your level of experience, they might be able to tell you if it sounds safe or not, where to go, if they sell tours at this time, or if the surfer guides might want to go with you on their day off if they feel like it.
I'd recommand to call them and ask the phone numbers of the surfing guides. You will save some time compared to e-mail, I guess.
Hope this helps a little bit!
Have fun and stay safe!
