Teaching Songs!

Basically, it seems we are getting NOWHERE coordinating times to meet and actually discuss this... Well, welcome to a forum where we can do it VIRTUALLY!

So, I wanna introduce the song BABY SHARK. In general, I think TPR is one of the best ways to learn English, and in this song you can go crazy with the motions of the shark, the swimmer, the body injuries.

The song is a bit long, so with children and depending on their level, I recommend you choose only certain family member sharks, and focus on certain actions.

Once the children know it, they can dance around the 'swimmer' in a circle, switching direction with every new movement.
Lyrics:
(shark mouth with hands connected at wrist)
Baby shark,
Doh-doh, doh, doh
Baby shark, Doh-doh, doh, doh
Baby shark, Doh-doh,
doh, doh
Baby shark

(shark mouth with forearms connected at elbows)

Momma shark, Doh-doh, doh, doh
Momma shark, Doh-doh, doh, doh
Momma
shark, Doh-doh, doh, doh
Momma shark

(shark mouth with full arms)

Daddy shark, Doh-doh, doh, doh
Daddy shark, Doh-doh, doh, doh

(hop on one leg to beat)

(push cellphone numbers to beat)
Call
9-1-1, Doh-doh, doh, doh
Call 9-1-1, Doh-doh, doh, doh
Call 9-1-1,
Doh-doh, doh, doh
Call 9-1-1

(make any dying actions you want.
finger across neck, grabbing heart, fainting away,...)
It's too late,

The video below is not very good, but it is a good reference for the rhythm.

Anyway, try it out! Post new ones you've found and let's start to create an idea factory library here.

Opposites song

Not a big deal, but kids love it. Very basic stuff.

Lyrics:

up up up (motioning up with your hands)
down down down (guess what)
left left left (motioning RIGHT with yr hands: kids copy you and they sit opposite, get it?)
right right right (guess what)
go go go (motioning marching with your hands)
stop stop stop (motioning STOP)

then you click with your tongue 5 times, they also try to do it. Cute. Benefits: they get excited then they calm down from the tongue exercise.
