Visiting June 9-13 for TBEX11
Posted April 14th, 2011 - 8:15 am by from Portland, United States (Permalink)
I am going to be visiting Vancouver for the umpteenth time from June 9-13 for the TBEX Conference (travel blogger exchange) and would like to focus my experience on activities the LGBT community would find interesting. Specifically, a solo lesbian traveler.

If you have any recommendations for bars, restaurants, coffee shops, clubs, shops, activities....anything lesbian-owned, etc, I would really appreciate it.

I will be on foot, no car this trip, so things should be easy to get to via foot, public transportation or cab. I'm looking into scooter rental while I am there, but not counting on it.

I am also up for meeting with people, chatting, getting to know the scene a little better in Vancouver. I love this city and am really looking forward to seeing more of it from a different perspective this time.

Really? No advice? I thought the scene in Vancouver was great the last time I was there. It's been a few years and I know things change. Anyone? Help a sista out!

Hey there =)

Alright, here we go.

What I can recommend to meet people, take lesbian salsa classes or attend lesbian boardgame events is the Rhizome Cafe:

It's a nice place to meet other ladies too who might be able to tell you what's happening in the city that night.

As for going out & party, I think "Oasis Lounge" on Thurlow Street is worth a shot.

Otherwise you might wanna check out

once in a while as they got some events going on sometimes. Or take a peak into the Xtra magazine

http://www.xtra.ca/vancouver.aspx

to check out some events.

Other than that there's always the beautiful Commercial Drive area =)

Have a fantastic time.
