Schöneberg Brunch
Posted April 29th, 2008 - 8:15 pm by from Sevilla, Spain (Permalink)
Hello all,

The weather has become so beautiful outside this past week that I don't ever want to get on a train again. I just want to walk, walk, walk everywhere!

So I suppose that means I'll have to find more things to do in our lovely neighborhood. ;)

I know that a lot of the other Berlin subgroups (Prenzlauer Berg, Tempelhof) have organized brunches before. Maybe this would be nice for us, too. Sunday morning, roll out of bed, the sun is shining, walk down the street to a pretty cafe to meet some CouchSurfers... sounds nice to me.

Is anyone interested? Does anyone know where the best brunch in Schöneberg is? I've been to a couple places, but nothing has been amazing yet.

Trevor

Hi Trevor - great idea. I will not be able to make it probably, because I am leaving the next day for China, but maybe I will check in to say hello at least.

My favorite brunch place in Schoeneberg is "Toronto" at Crellestraße. It has a Mediterranean style buffet for 8,50 (at least that was the price last year) and a great location, especially outside.

Another good place for brunch is at the border Schoeneberg to Kreuzberg, "Aroma", Hochkirchstraße 8. It is Italian, please make reservations, it tends to get really crowded.

Whatever it will be, have fun:-)

Good idea. I would be in.

I don'tknow about the food at Toronto but the location is nice. Pedestrial area with lots of tables outside (as far as I remember).

I remember Bilderbuchcafe having a pretty good brunch. And the place is also worth a visit (no tables outside)

Tomasa is a breakfast classic in Schöneberg. There are two in our district. one in Motzstr and another one in Hauptstr. But If we wanted to go to Tomasa I would opt to cross the border and check out the new Tomasa in Villa Kreuzberg.

And there are the Cafes at Viktorare Luise Platz but I don't know nothing about Brunch there...

There is one more Tomasa's in Schoeneberg, at Salzburgerstr./Wartburgstr., but they don't serve brunch, just a la carte. (It is my favorite on weekdays, though. Be there before 9:30 and the food is 30% off.)

The location at Victoria Luise Platz is great, never had brunch at any of the places there, just coffee. "Potemkin" is Russian and supposed to have good brunches, Russian style (lots of fish).

Wonderful idea. I'm definitely in.
There are some great place in Akazienstr like Gottlob, they has a nice brunch.

Glad to see so much interest in this idea. :) And lots of suggestions for brunch spots, too!

One of those places on Akazienstrasse would be great, personally (Bilderbuch Cafe or Gottlob), or maybe we could check out one of the Viktoria Luise Platz cafes, perhaps Montevideo? Not sure I'm up for so much fish so early in the morning at Potemkin. ;)

Any thoughts?

Brunch at Gottlob is - hmm, let's find the right word - not so exciting? (Compared to the other options.)

Bilderbuch is nice, but no place outside.

Montevideo I don't know at all.

(I am a breakfast junkie. Candle light dinner at a french place or breakfast at Tomasa? You know what I am up for.)

Breakfast at Bilderbuch is not that good and I'm more of a breakfast person too.
Cafe Sur is a great place for breakfast and my personal favourite :)

Ok! So, let's try to make some plans.

I vote we play it "safe" and go with the highly recommended Cafe Tomasa for our first brunch. Once we're all gathered together we can debate where we should go for Schöneberg Brunch #2. :)

So how about:

*Sunday, 4 May
*10:00
*Cafe Tomasa, Motzstrasse 60

It sounds like we should make a reservation, so please let me know if you plan on coming!

See you soon,
Trevor

Count me in too. But I would also opt for 11:00. :)

Ok guys, it's confirmed.

We have a reservation for tomorrow at Cafe Tomasa, Motzstrasse 60, at 11:00 (by popular demand!). It's under my name and for 6 people... hopefully they won't be too angry with us if there's one or two more or fewer.

See you tomorrow. :)
