Red Ginger - Broadway-Oak area
this is the former Kam's Place. Used to be downtown at Davie Street. Lunch Specials at 7bucks. Yummy curry and noodles galore.

Saravanaa Bhavan 955 West Broadway/ New India Buffet & Restaurant (805 West Broadway-Willow). Lunch box take out for 7bucks. Really yummy indian food. Avoid the buffet. You will explode as you cannot stop eating.

Foundation - Main-7th Ave. Vegetarian re-invented. Best tacos in town. Come early to avoid line-ups

Budgie's Burritos-44 Kingsway. Best burritos in town. Nuff said. Keep your eyes open. It's a small hole in the wall but oh so yummy.

Hawker's Delight - Main St-King Edward Ave. Singaporean street food. My lifeline as a struggling student. Best chicken curry with rice for less than 7bucks. The gado-gado is great for a healthy yet filling meal.

Hoho's at Davie-Bute area. 6bucks for a 2-item chinese lunch with rice/noodle and drink. Wow.

Sorry, but I don't have a list to add in here.

But I'm kinda curious to try Red Ginger, being from Singapore myself :) I've read more bad reviews than good ones, so I'm just wondering if it's really what people said.

Anyone interested?

I just went there a week or so ago, and I had no idea it was the new Kam's! I got their Singapore-style fried noodles (vegetarian) and they made a wicked good dish... I've been on the hunt for that since I left north van (where Neighbourhood Noodle House was my go-to for delicious, affordable asian food..and they cover Vietnamese, Japanese AND Chinese very well) and Red Ginger definitely hit the spot!

I don't know why they'd get bad reviews, although I was only in there once. The guy who served me kept calling me "friend" and was super friendly :)

Fujiya near Pender and Burrard. Googlemap it for it's a hole in the wall. It has extremely cheap japanese food and it's take-out only. From what I know, the food gets trucked in from their Vancouver location every morning. I love their bentos (vegetarian). Everything gets sold out by the end of day! Bentos for a little less than 6$ and large portions! Lots of sushi too. :)

Thida Thai. Very good authentic Thai restaurant. You can get lunch specials (weekdays I think?) for around 8$. I tried their tom yum soup (super tasty), pad thai and fried rice. Located at 1193 Davie Street.

Anyone know of any vegan/eco places around? I found their were a lot more eco-cafes/restaurants in the East than in Vancouver... Let me know if I'm just out of the loop!

Brado Pizza! on Commercial Drive and Kitchener. It's the bomb! and you get a dope huge slice of pizza, with lots of toppings for only $1.10... yeah, thats right. I eat slices there multiple times a week. $1.10 and a smile if the owner is serving you!
